Karina: A Breathtaking True Story of Survival
Hello everyone!
Karina - this film tells the story of a four-year-old girl who vanished in the Yakutian forests on the eve of a harsh autumn. By the way, the events in this movie are based on real events, which is why I decided to give this story some attention.
I still remember the news from 2014 about a girl named Karina Chikitova who went missing in the woods and never came back. I was shocked back then and would say to myself, 'How could a child just vanish and go unnoticed for several days?'
The plot of the movie is based on this true story, but there's more to it. Apparently, Karina was supposed to leave with her father, but he had some issues and didn't take her with him.
So, Karina's mom, grandma, and grandpa thought she was with her dad for a few days, but in reality, she was wandering around the woods the entire time. It's only after four days that they reported her missing to the authorities.
The search for Karina was incredibly challenging, especially given the harsh environment of the Siberian taiga. I mean, we're talking about a four-year-old girl who spent 12 days in those woods. It's a miracle she's still alive, and you'll get to see how she survived in the movie. I won't give away too much, but trust me, it's a gripping story.
There are definitely pros and cons, so I couldn't give this film a five-star rating.
I'd watch this movie from two angles - as a real-life story and as a work of art. If I take the real-life story and put myself in the shoes of the parents or the girl, then of course everything that happens is shocking and really surprising. I mean, we often go into the woods to pick mushrooms and berries, and a few times we've found ourselves lost. I don't know how, maybe like in the film, the spirit of the forest led us out, but it was really scary.
By the way, when it comes to predators, our region is home to bears and wolves, not to mention foxes and smaller animals. I remember when we found wolf fur and even saw one near our base in winter. And we'd often come across pine trees with bear claw marks, right next to a busy road. That's why, as a real-life story, I'd give it a five-star rating, but as a film, I'd say it's only worth four stars.
Yes, on the one hand, I really enjoyed the atmosphere and the breathtaking beauty of the Yakutian taiga. I also appreciated the lead actress's performance and its emotional impact on the viewer. At first, Karina is funny, then she touches your heart and makes you empathize. Plus...
Now that we've seen the rescue efforts and heard the mystical tale of the forest spirit, it's time to look at the downsides of this film.
One of the things that bothered me was how the family relationships between the grandmother, granddaughter, and mother weren't explored at all. It's also unclear how it took three days for them to report Karina missing.
Another minus is that the director failed to convince me of the reality of what was happening and make me fully empathize with Karina's disappearance. I mean, I was worried about her, but I didn't get fully immersed in the story.
I'm not sure how to put it, but the scenes with the kid felt like separate reports, which made it hard for me to fully get into the story. Plus, the mother and grandmother were a bit annoying. They behaved in a way that didn't feel natural or believable to me.
I have to say, the story about the missing girl was pretty important, but to me, it felt like it was missing some emotional depth and well-developed characters. I'd recommend checking this movie out, but I'm not sure I'd watch it more than once - it's a bit slow-paced and not very dynamic.
All in all, I think Karina is a thought-provoking film that explores the complexities of human relationships and the resilience of the human spirit. While it may not be perfect, it's definitely worth watching for its unique blend of drama, mystery, and adventure.
So, if you're in the mood for a film that will keep you on the edge of your seat and make you think about the importance of family and survival, then Karina is definitely worth checking out.
However, if you're looking for a fast-paced, action-packed movie with well-developed characters, then you might want to look elsewhere.
Overall, I'd give Karina 4 out of 5 stars for its engaging storyline, beautiful cinematography, and strong performances. While it may have some flaws, it's definitely a film that will leave you thinking long after the credits roll.
So, go ahead and give Karina a try. I promise you won't be disappointed.
The All-Knowing Reader is an engaging and not boring film to watch interestingly, but only once. For words, I answer - I watched it on one breath. The plot makes you think, reflect, and look deeper inside yourself. Is it really necessary to have motivational training, and does it really help or not? Our heroine will learn a lot when she ends up in jail.
The series, Very Strange Things, enters the top three most expensive Netflix projects. The song from season 4 by Kate Bush has been in the top charts for 36 years, after a long silence, it suddenly shot to the top. Music soundtrack is a bomb, another world. The series is just superb.
