I'll never forget the day I lost my job a year ago. It was a total shock, and I ended up feeling lost and defeated. But I knew I needed to get my act together and find a new job, so I decided to trust the pros to help me out. To be honest, I didn't have the time or energy to deal with it myself.
I stumbled upon this agency while browsing for job openings online. They were one of several I reached out to - I wish I could remember the others, but my reviews would be the same. My first encounter with them was through a job fair, where they found my resume and invited me for an interview. Of course, they also threw in a few job openings they thought I'd be a good fit for.
The interview was a total waste of time. I met this young woman who was probably around my age or slightly younger. She had a 'look' in her eye, but it was clear she was just going through the motions. She recited all these rehearsed lines, made awkward small talk, and had this patronizing tone. I mean, come on - it was like she was trying to sell me a timeshare.
They offered me three job openings, but none of them were a good fit for me. Either it was something I wasn't qualified for, or the company wasn't a good match. I'd listed all my skills and experience in my resume, but it didn't seem to matter. One of the companies even offered a job from my previous workplace - talk about awkward. I mean, what's the value for money in that?
In the end, my visit to this agency was just the kick in the pants I needed to start looking for a job again. And I'm happy to say I found one pretty quickly. I learned a valuable lesson: don't rely on job agencies to find you a job. Do your own research, and don't be afraid to take risks. Shipping on their promises wasn't exactly what I was looking for.
