It's also worth noting that the location plays a big role - in some cases, the puncture might not be necessary and would be pointless, whereas surgery would be the only option. If the issue isn't long-standing and the ganglion is small, you might be able to get away with a less invasive procedure. The puncture itself is a less invasive operation with minimal recovery time, and it's relatively cheap - that's a big plus for me. Plus, there's a chance that I'll be ganglion-free for good without any scarring or marks. Why not give it a shot? The whole procedure took just 20 minutes, with about 15 minutes spent discussing the procedure, recovery, and the manipulation itself. The actual removal of the ganglion took just 5 minutes - it was a bit uncomfortable, but not as bad as I thought it'd be. It's worth enduring for a few minutes. It's done under local anesthesia.
