Editor's Summary
As a mom of two, I've tried my fair share of diapers, but Huggies Elite Soft have been a game changer for my second baby. They're perfect for newborns, especially those on the smaller side. However, I've also had some experience with other brands like Joonies, Nani, and Bella Happy. In this review, I'll share my honest thoughts on each.
Specifications
I've been using Huggies Elite Soft diapers for my second kid, and I have to say, they've been a lifesaver in the first few weeks.
My second baby was born weighing just 3 kg, and he's on the smaller side. I've tried a bunch of different diaper brands for newborns, but they all seemed too big for him. That's when I discovered Huggies, and their design with the elastic on the back really helped them stay in place. But, they still slipped down sometimes.
The adhesive strips are pretty good, they stick well.
The little ridges around the legs are a nice touch.
The absorbent layer is pretty soft, and it doesn't make any noise when it's wet. There are little padding bits too, which is great. Although, I'm not sure if these are the latest model, since I don't have the packaging anymore.
Huggies aren't the thinnest diapers out there, as you can see from the comparison photo with Joonies (at the bottom).
But, they do run small, which is why I stopped using them for my first kid. They started to feel too tight, and I had to switch to a different brand.
For comparison, here are all the diapers I've used up to 5 kg:
Nani 1, Bella happy 2, Joonis NB
One thing that's immediately noticeable is that Huggies 2 are the smallest of the bunch. Although they're designed for babies weighing 4-6 kg.
For my newborn, they actually fit better than the others. Huggies were a bit too big for my little one at around 3 kg. In the hospital and for the first few weeks, these diapers were great, but I'm not sure if this brand will continue to work for us.
I also noticed that Huggies tend to swell up a lot. They seem to absorb pretty well, but I did experience some leaks.
The indicators do work - the color does change when the diaper is full.
At this point, we've gone through all the Huggies 2 diapers. I'm not sure if I'll be repurchasing - maybe I'll find a better alternative.
