How a Bad Ending Can Ruin the Whole Series - Great Actors and an Engaging Story, but a Lackluster Finish and a Complete Letdown.

summarizeEditor's Summary

I recently binge-watched the entire series 'How to Tame a Fox' and was hooked from the start. The engaging storyline, paired with exceptional acting, made for a thrilling watch. However, as the series progressed, the momentum slowly dissipated, and the lackluster finale left me feeling underwhelmed. While the show's themes of trauma and survival are thought-provoking, the execution falls short. The series' potential is evident, but it fails to deliver a satisfying conclusion. The show's pacing is well-balanced, with a good mix of action, drama, and suspense. The cinematography is stunning, capturing the harsh yet majestic beauty of the Siberian wilderness. The main characters are well-developed and relatable, making it easy to become invested in their stories. However, the detective aspect of the story is underdeveloped and feels like an afterthought. The character of the creepy uncle is intriguing, but his backstory and motivations are left largely unexplored. The series' climax is disappointing and fails to deliver the emotional payoff I was expecting. The finale feels rushed and convenient, tying up loose ends in a way that feels unsatisfying.

I finally binge-watched the series "How to Tame a Fox" and have to say it started off really engaging and thrilling. The storyline was pretty gripping, but unfortunately, by the end, all the interest was lost for me.
The series is about a big, creepy uncle and his daughter, who are the main characters. They're the ones you'll be following throughout the show.
Official description:
The murder in the woods uncovers a series of kidnappings. The key to solving them lies in the hands of a psychologist and a wild girl who escaped from her terrifying father.
Main characters:
🦊 The creeper
I think the actor who played him did a great job, though – it takes skill to portray someone so awful. His character barely gets a mention in the final episode, which left me wondering why he turned out that way. It's clear his behavior comes from his father and being neglected by his mom.
The creeper kept a girl, Dina, locked up in the house. She had a kid, and when her mom passed away, she was left with him.
Dina escapes, and that's where the series starts. She's saved by her uncle Sasha. 🦊 Dina - the creeper's daughter
Dina's a girl who's spent her whole life in the middle of nowhere and struggles to adapt to life in society. The whole thread runs through to the end of the series, but it's not exactly what I was expecting. As an actress, the one who played Dina did a great job of making me believe she was a person who hadn't grown up in society. The actor Kirill Käro played a great role. I like this actor for his uniqueness and the fact that he doesn't resemble other actors. In this series, he played a good man who saw a person in trouble and saved them. Despite being initially blamed for everything, he had to take the investigation into his own hands.
The Investigator
The person who's supposed to investigate where Dina came from is supposed to be the one in charge, but they're not doing a great job.
It's the usual sloppy work from the special services – everyone around them is investigating this case, discovering something, figuring it out, except for them. Dina's Son
My niece is a typical teenager who doesn't always get along with her grandmother. But, as the story goes, they eventually became close. 🦊 My niece's grandmother I found this character to be a bit out of place, more like a robot than a real person.
It felt like my niece's grandmother was on antidepressants. I didn't believe she'd fall in love with my niece until the very end.
And my niece didn't believe it either. That's why some of her actions, especially at the end, make sense. Secondary characters:🦊 My niece's aunt's girlfriend
My niece's aunt's girlfriend is the swimming coach of her cousin.
She's a secondary character who doesn't really leave a lasting impression.🦊 My niece's grandfather My grandma Dina's been out of the picture for a long time. At first, he seems like a rock-solid character, but by the end of the series, it's clear that's just a facade. The Investigator's WifeJournalist who's always poking his nose into the case.
The Molester's Victims
The number of victims was several, but their stories and the mother's didn't really stick with me. I felt bad for all of them, but it was weird that they weren't being actively looked for. I mean, they were looking, but they just couldn't find them.Overall Impressions of the Movie:
If I had to sum up the movie in a few words, it's:
The whole movie is about catching the molester - the father. And the molester is hunting Dina the whole time.
That's the whole plot of the movie.It's easy to think that the logical ending would be catching the molester, but nope. And Dina wasn't caught either.The series ended in a really illogical way, which completely ruined my impression of the movie.
The ending is there, but it's like it's not there at the same time.
I don't get the molester's behavior. They showed an event that completely changed his perspective, but he could've easily gone down a different path.
Everything they uncovered about his life and who he was just didn't add up to anything. I'm left with a feeling of neglect.It's like they didn't tell me everything, like they left out some important details.
About the Fox:
One interesting thing is that Dina's uncle Sasha had a pet fox, because he's a zoopsychologist. And there was a fox in his enclosure.
The title of the show itself makes a nod to Dune. Can they tame the wild Dune and make it human-friendly? We'll find out in the final episode. But, let's be real, Dina's got nothing in common with wolves in terms of personality. The visuals, though, are stunning – gorgeous natural scenery that'll leave you awestruck. Watch this show if you want, but be prepared for a letdown at the end. They should've spent just five minutes wrapping up the ending and making it more understandable for the audience. I love it when a show's characters evoke some real emotions and have a super intense plot. This one, though, just left me feeling repulsed by the villain. Maybe a little sympathy for the girls he kidnapped, but that feeling gets crushed by the show's illogical plot and the ineptitude of the special forces.
The villain's house was just a stone's throw away from the city, and it wasn't even fenced in. Nobody seemed to notice that a girl was being held captive there for years. The 'tension' in this show comes from the detectives' half-hearted efforts. Series 'How to Tame a Cat': 🦊 An interesting idea, but they couldn't execute it to the end;
🦊 Some actors did a great job in their roles;
🦊 Gorgeous natural scenery;
🦊 A completely uninteresting ending;
🦊 Didn't evoke much emotion.
At first, the series really grabs your attention, but by the end, it's just not as engaging. I found myself watching just to see how it wraps up, but the finale was a letdown. I'm just glad it's only 8 episodes. That makes the time investment a bit more manageable. 🦊🦊🦊
