Dream by the Sea, Russia, Sochi Reviews

I grabbed the Dream by the Sea from Sochi, Russia, and it instantly turned my room into a chill coastal spot. The build feels solid, the finish is smooth, and every time I look at it I swear I can hear the Black Sea breezes. It’s a solid piece that adds that laid‑back vibe without any fuss.

A Hidden Gem on the Black Sea Coast
I was pleasantly surprised by the name of the hotel, which is so calm and inviting. However, I never had the chance to stay here before, as we usually book hotels in Sochi on our way there and often end up with what's left. This time, I searched for hotels in Sochi where we could stay for a few days right away and stumbled upon Hotel Son u Moria. I was lucky, the administrator told me that one room was left, my husband went to check it out, sent me some photos, and we decided to book it.
The hotel is located directly on the first line, with a stunning view of the sea from the windows, even from the top floor where we stayed. The beach is nearby, in the Mamyka area. And the best part is that you can fall asleep and wake up to the sound of the waves:
The view from the window is beautiful, with sunsets visible. The room was the only one available, and the price for two adults was 3200 rubles per night (!!!), which is a steal considering the current prices in Sochi. I think it's only the top floor, as I asked about extending our stay, and they offered us a room on the floor below for 8200 rubles. However, I don't see any downsides to taking the third floor, even with a child and a stroller. It was no problem for us at all.
The additional bed for each child costs 1400 rubles, and the room is huge and spacious. There are even 8 sleeping places!! 2 double beds and 2 sofa beds. The room size is 50 square meters, and some rooms are even larger.
The room was fully equipped, which was a pleasant surprise. For the price, it's a real luxury:
bed linen and towelsbathroom amenitiestea setrefrigeratorTVseveral wardrobes and dresserslarge dining tablecoffee tableclothes dryerhair dryermosquito and insect repellentsmall vases for cosmetics and jewelrylarge floor mirrorEverything you might need for a comfortable stay was provided. I didn't need anything else.
The hotel has a cafe on the first floor, but we only tried to have dinner there once, and almost nothing was available on the menu, so we didn't go back.
The view from the balcony is stunning, with a beautiful view of the sea. The prices are reasonable, not like in restaurants. Unfortunately, we couldn't try anything, as nothing was available.
However, we regularly had breakfast there. The breakfasts were included in the price, 200 rubles per person. But they were completely unsatisfying, unbalanced, and tasteless in my opinion. I only went once and didn't go back. The breakfasts were like: "What do you want for 200 rubles?"
They offered us oatmeal and bread with butter one day, and pancakes with sour cream and bread with butter the next day. The only beverage option was tea. Coffee was extra.
The breakfasts were served with a voucher. The advantage is that breakfast is served on an open terrace with a beautiful view. The disadvantage is that no one was satisfied with the meal, and there was nothing satisfying.
The bathroom is spacious and comfortable, with clean towels and hot water working perfectly. It's convenient to take a shower, and you don't need to adjust the water temperature for 30 minutes.
Sleeping here is very comfortable, and you can open the windows at night. There were no mosquitoes.
You can watch sunrises and sunsets with a cup of coffee or tea, and the view is stunning.
However, the cafe on the first floor played loud music in the evenings, and from the street, it seemed like it would be impossible to fall asleep. But on the top floor, it was completely quiet. Keep this in mind when booking.
Also, be aware that there are not many rooms available, so it's better to book in advance. We were lucky to get a room on short notice.
The hotel is surrounded by shops, pharmacies, cafes, restaurants, and fast food places on the embankment, just a 2-minute walk away. We often ate at the canteen, which is also located on the embankment, just a 3-minute walk from the hotel.
The hotel's exterior looks like this:
However, be aware that parking can be a problem, as we often managed to find a spot just in time. There is free parking in front of the hotel. The traffic around the hotel is heavy, with many people, and it's difficult to drive through. You need to wait a long time for everyone to pass by.
From the room, you can see the beach, and there are often seagulls on the roof. The atmosphere in the hotel is very pleasant.
The hotel staff takes care of cleanliness every day, and you can refuse service if you don't need it, by hanging a sign or requesting that they take away the trash, replace the amenities or linens.
Thank you for your attention!
