Long story short, I chose between the Xiaomi Redmi Note 7 and the Honor 8X. The deciding factor was the camera, but my inner voice of reason and love for reliability and durability ultimately led me to choose the Honor. Just before making the purchase, I started running into people who warned me against buying the Xiaomi – one had a swollen battery, another had a phone that just died on them after a year. When I finally got my hands on both phones, I instinctively gravitated towards the Honor. It felt solid and substantial, while the Xiaomi felt... lightweight, I guess. Don't know why, but that's how it felt.
So, I went with the Honor 8X.
The Honor 8X isn't exactly new – it was released in 2018. But it's become super popular and in-demand because of its great specs and affordable price. My budget was around 300 euros, and the Honor 8X cost me 540 Belarusian rubles, which is roughly 17,000 Russian rubles.
I recently saw an ad that said this model has dropped in price by around $25. I'm not sure if this price will be relevant in Belarus, but it's worth noting.
The package includes a charger, instruction manual, a clip for the SIM card slot, and a simple silicone case. I was glad to have this case for a while, until I ordered a proper case and screen protector from AliExpress. Now my phone looks great in its new case!
