Specifications
Hello everyone!
I'm a total blush junkie, and I just can't resist buying a new shade whenever I see one. Plus, if a brand is always getting rave reviews, I'm all over it. So, I spent ages watching reviews, reading up, and finally decided to take the plunge with Holika Holika's blushes. What really sold me was the unique texture.
Quick rundown:
Where to buy - Golden Apple
Price - 851 rub
Shade - 02
Packaging:
The compact itself is a cute little orb with a pink lid and a white body. It's pretty cool, especially with the 'Jelly' logo on it - you know what's inside. There wasn't any extra packaging, but it does come with a little sticker to protect it from the first opening.
The back has the production date, expiration date, and all that jazz.
What's in the box:
I love that the blush itself is small enough to toss into my bag, and it comes with a decent mirror and a powder puff for applying. Honestly, that's all you need - no extra clutter. The puff is pretty comfy and soft, making it easy to apply the blush.
The blush itself is protected by a little flip-out cover, so the puff doesn't touch it all the time.
Texture:
It's pretty soft, and any touch leaves a mark. The texture is actually kinda like jelly - it's a bit springy when you press on it. The blush is a bit sticky, which makes it easy to pick up loose hairs and dirt.
Aroma, color, swatch:
I've got to say, these blushes don't really have a strong scent, but if you bring them up to your nose, you can catch a whiff of a sweet, subtle fragrance. When you're actually using them, though, you don't really notice it. My shade is 02 - Grapefruit. It's super soft, pretty, warm, and has this gorgeous coral-rose color that's perfect for summer. I can use my finger to apply it to my skin, but I actually prefer to use the sponge that comes with it.
Application and finish:
At first, I was thinking of using a regular brush to apply these blushes, but I didn't like how they didn't really show up. I'm not going to blame the blushes, maybe I just picked the wrong brush. But honestly, I've stuck to using the sponge that comes with it ever since.
I can still end up looking a bit too rosy, even with the sponge, so I always apply these blushes to clean skin and then set them with powder. As you can see, the sponge does a great job of picking up and applying the color. It doesn't cake or get all eaten up (I've applied it over powder a few times, actually).
The finish on these blushes is matte, which I'm not a huge fan of on my face, so I always make sure to add a highlighter on top. These blushes actually pair really well with my favorite highlighter, Priliv rtyutnoi Luny, and if I want to add a bit of pinky glow, Pukhlyanchik is a great option.
These blushes are pretty long-lasting, I'd say they last around 4 hours without fading too much. Removing them is a breeze, and they come off easily without any streaks. A regular oil-based makeup remover does the trick just fine.
I've gotta say, these blushes have been a total game-changer for me. I find myself reaching for them all the time - I'm even thinking about picking up a few more shades to add to my collection. But for now, I'm trying to pace myself, since I've accumulated a lot of makeup lately, including these gorgeous blushes.
