Happy New Year, travelers!
We didn't stop at just one hotel in Almaty for our New Year's celebration. We decided to try out the Holiday Inn Express Almaty 3*.
We booked the hotel for three nights from January 1st to January 4th, and the price for three nights was 18,990 rubles with a discount since we booked in advance. Breakfast was included in the stay.
Initially, we wanted to book two hotels - one more expensive and one cheaper. However, we decided to try out the Holiday Inn Express Almaty 3* and see how it would be.
LOCATION
The hotel is located close to the mountains. It's within walking distance to the main street, metro, and there's a bus stop right next to the hotel that takes you directly to Medeo.
I really liked the location and the area. It's quiet and not too noisy. There's also the Forum shopping center nearby, which has plenty of boutiques, a cinema, and a great grocery store.
THE HOTEL INSIDE
The lobby area is small but comfortable. We checked in on January 1st, so the hotel was decorated with New Year's decorations, which looked lovely and cozy.
The receptionist was super friendly and welcoming. We asked for a room with a view of the mountains, and they kindly accommodated us. Our room was the cheapest and non-smoking, but they gave us a non-smoking room anyway.
ROOM
The room was small (19 sqm), but cozy and pleasant. It was a classic Holiday Inn Express style. We didn't expect much, but it was actually quite nice.
One thing that was missing in the room was a fridge and slippers. There were also no dressers or storage areas for our belongings. Otherwise, the room was good, but not ideal for a long stay.
If I'm being honest, the view from the window was a bit of a letdown. However, the nighttime view was stunning, and we were blown away by the breathtaking view of the mountains.
BATHROOM
The bathroom was a cozy little space. It was nicely decorated and clean, which is the most important thing.
One thing that caught my eye was the pictures on each floor of the hotel. Thankfully, there were no earthquakes in the city while we were there.
BREAKFAST
Breakfast was served on the first floor in a separate area. I'd say the breakfast area was quite spacious and cozy. The food was filling, but not particularly varied. I enjoyed the Ramen soup and the sandwiches with butter, as well as the juice and coffee.
BOTTOM LINE
The hotel's location is unbeatable.The staff are super friendly and courteous.The room is clean and cozy.The TV has great YouTube access.The breakfast is delicious.The value for money.The breathtaking view of the mountains!!!
WHAT DIDN'T QUITE HIT THE SPOT
The room doesn't have a fridge, slippers, or much storage space.I think this place is PERFECT for a short stay in Almaty (up to 5 days). The location is spot-on, the room is cozy and clean, and that view of the mountains? Absolutely stunning!
If you can, definitely ask the reception for a room with a mountain view. Waking up and falling asleep to that view is pure bliss!
I'm giving this a solid 10 out of 10!
