It's perfect for parents and educators looking for a fun and engaging way to teach emotional intelligence to children. summarizeEditor's Summary

As a self-proclaimed bookworm, I'm always on the lookout for new titles to dive into, especially when it comes to child psychology. This book caught my attention with its promising reviews and piqued my interest in understanding why kids sometimes freak out. Reading it was a breeze, and I loved that it included practical advice to help parents navigate these situations. The author's background as a child and clinical psychologist shines through in their writing, making the content relatable and engaging. I found the book to be well-researched and informative, covering topics such as emotional regulation, empathy, and communication. The author's writing style is engaging and easy to follow, making it a quick read. I appreciated the real-life examples and anecdotes that made the content relatable and easy to understand. While some of the advice may not be applicable to every child or situation, the book provides a valuable resource for parents looking to better understand their child's emotions. I would recommend this book to any parent looking to improve their relationship with their child and help them develop healthy emotional habits.

Hello fellow book lovers! I'm a total bookworm and I love reading. Most of the time, I'm devouring self-help books on topics like child psychology – like how to get your kid to enjoy going to daycare without any fuss.
I stumbled upon this book in the LitRes app, where I'm a library member. That means I get to read books for free – as long as they're in their catalog. It's super convenient, no need to physically visit the library.
The reviews for this book really caught my attention, so I was excited to dive in.
Since I'm reading an e-book, I'll be sharing screenshots.
Let's meet the author
Getting to know the authorTable of Contents:
The book is divided into 4 main parts.
Table of Contents Table of Contents Table of ContentsI think you'll find it interesting...So let's get started
Emotions are a natural part of life. I used to understand emotions in my own way, but thanks to the author, I've gained a new perspective on them.
The author explains the importance of emotions in socializing children. The book also covers emotional intelligence – why it's essential to develop emotional intelligence in children, teach them how to express emotions correctly, and cultivate empathy.
You can't teach kids about emotions if you don't understand your own. If you can't control your emotions or express them healthily, how can you expect your kids to learn from you? You have to start with yourself!
It's like a boiling kettle on the stove – it whistles, steam comes out of the spout, and if you don't turn it off, it'll boil over, burn, or even explode. That's what happens when people suppress their emotions. The worse the outcome will be, the more they try to contain themselves.
Suppressing emotions and letting them build up can lead to a meltdown or a desperate attempt to hide them. We don't get rid of the emotion, we just stash it away in our subconscious, like a weight that's bound to become too heavy to carry eventually.
Being able to listen is one of the most important skills out there. It's a game-changer when it comes to winning people over. People who can't listen often find themselves alone, and nobody wants to hang out or be friends with them, let alone play with their kids.
Emotions: the good, the bad, and the ugly
This chapter in the book is fascinating. The author explains that there are no bad emotions or reactions; they're all driven by something and serve a purpose.
These so-called 'bad' emotions are actually a protective mechanism, warning us of potential dangers and sometimes even stopping us in our tracks. We avoid people who are sick, strange, or morally bankrupt because our disgust acts as a warning sign. That's why kids are taught from a young age not to talk to strangers or take anything from them.

.... there are no bad emotions or reactions; they're all driven by something and serve a purpose.
These 'bad' emotions aren't so bad after all. All emotions are necessary and important.
Emotions affect every aspect of our lives, wherever we are. They help us perceive the world around us. One day it's vibrant and beautiful, the next it's dull and uninviting. The world remains the same, but our perception of it changes, driven by our emotions and the situations we find ourselves in.
Another thought-provoking topic explored by the author is the ability to understand and accept the feelings of others.
You've probably heard this famous quote before:
How you treat others is how they'll treat you.
This chapter delves into the topic of children's tantrums – understanding the causes and preventing them. If you're a parent, you might find this section particularly helpful in figuring out why your kid is having a meltdown.
The fast pace of modern life really takes a toll on your emotions, rushing around and chaos, and it's exhausting for adults, let alone kids. That's why we see so many kids having meltdowns... Emotional overload is a common reason for this.
Postpartum depression is a serious topicFiguring out how to identify postpartum depression and how to deal with it. It's not just mom who can struggle with it, but dads too.
The author explains everything clearly, making it easy to understand.I also skipped over the practical section (exercises) because, thankfully, I don't need it.
I really enjoyed reading this book - it's easy to get through, I learned something new, and it was great to be reminded of things I already knew. The author's perspective is relatable and makes sense to me, and in many ways, my views align with theirs.
This book would be helpful for anyone who wants to understand their emotions, experiences, and help their child do the same. The topic of emotions is fascinating, so I highly recommend reading this book to everyone!!! Especially anxious parents - trust me, it'll make things easier if you work on yourself.
Of course, blindly following every tip in this book isn't necessary, but getting familiar with some techniques and trying them out is definitely worth it.
I wish you a pleasant read!!!
