Hello everyone!
I've been sitting with my kid, thinking, why not start writing reviews on kids' products? I mean, who doesn't love sharing their honest opinion on the best toys and books out there?
Today, I'll tell you about this amazing book, 'Pets' from the brand 'Happiness Inside'. I've been a fan of their 'Heartwarming Stories' series for a while now, and I just had to get this one for my daughter.
I hope this review will be helpful to someone because, let's face it, buying toys and books for kids can be a total gamble. You never know if they'll actually enjoy it or just toss it aside.Of course, every kid is different, but in my opinion, the 'Heartwarming Stories' series is so universal and cool that it'll appeal to any kid at any age! I mean, who doesn't love animals and learning about them?
I've been familiar with this series for a long time, even before my daughter was born. I used to see some of these books at my relatives' place, and I thought, 'When I have a kid, I'll get one of these too!' And now, here I am, reviewing one of them.
Where to buy: WB, Ozon, Detsky Mir - you can find it at all these places, and probably more!
Price: 750-850 - yeah, it's not cheap, but trust me, it's worth it.
From the moment I opened the book, I was impressed by the cover. The little house with the pets and the tactile insert with the 'imitation roof' made of silicone - it's really addictive! My daughter can play with it for minutes on end (at first, she was stuck on it for 7-8 minutes straight). I mean, who doesn't love a good tactile experience?
I decided to buy the 'Pets' book when my daughter was 4 months old. I chose it because it's something simple and relatable for kids to learn about animals. And let me tell you, it's been a game-changer for us!We moved to a bigger bed at 3.5 months, and she started rolling over and touching everything within her reach. This book was one of the first things she encountered, and now she just can't get enough of it.
Here's how we read the book together:
The manufacturer recommends it for kids aged 3+, but only for independent reading! For joint reading and playing under supervision, it's suitable from 0+ years. I think 3.5 months is the perfect age to introduce kids to this type of book. The first page has a poem about a turtle, with a tactile insert that's similar to silicone but a bit stiffer.
The next page has a poem about a cat (I'm a cat lover, and I really like this one). My daughter loves cats too, but she's not yet excited about this page (she's still learning how to pet the cat). Then comes the fish. This is my kid's absolute favorite page! The scales are amazing - they're shiny, colorful, and best of all, they're really durable (I've got something to compare them to). We've got a set of tactile cards, and the fish scales on those fall off like crazy. Not here, though - I'd say only one scale has fallen off in the entire time we've had it.When we first met the book, it wouldn't let go of those scales at all! And actually, thanks to this page, because we've looked at and read it over 100 times a day, my daughter learned how to show me how the fish makes faces with its mouth. Next up is the parrot, with a foil insert. It's super thick, it makes a nice sound when you touch it, and it doesn't tear or scratch. It's a close second to the fish as my daughter's favorite page. Then comes the dog, with a huge nose. It's a real showstopper - I'm a total sucker for noses, and this one's a whole bunch of them! All in all, it's a solid silicone insert, nice and tactile. And finally, the hamster page with its soft velvety insert. It's really gentle, just like the lines in that poem say - its sides are indeed 'silky'. Well, what can I say? The book is amazing! My daughter and I both love it. She's almost 10 months now and she's already flipping through the pages, spinning the book around, and poking at the inserts. She's really into it, and the best part is that it doesn't fall apart! I don't let her play with books too much (I want to instill a love of reading), but even when she's playing, it's bound to get dropped or opened up really hard - and this book is sturdy enough to withstand it. Fingers crossed it'll last a long time.
✅ It's colorful, it develops tactile awareness (all the different textures, shapes, and materials). ✅ Besides the pictures, it's got some great short poems that are easy to read and tell us fun facts about each animal. ✅ It's a quality book, the inserts don't fall out or come loose. The price... yeah, it's not cheap. But I think it's worth it. I'm actually planning on buying a few more books from this series since a few new ones just came out. I didn't buy the first series because we see our relatives a lot and my daughter loves looking at these books there. The 'Forest' and 'Sea' series are also great, though.
