The Quest for the Perfect Shampoo: Is This Popular Option Worth It?

summarizeEditor's Summary

I've been on a mission to find a great, safe shampoo for my little ones, and this one's been on my radar lately. I picked it up at Perekrestok for a very reasonable price of 175 rubles for 300 ml, and the fact that it didn't contain SLS was a major selling point. I was impressed with the scent, lather, and packaging, but there were some issues with the formula. Here's the lowdown on this popular shampoo - it's got some good stuff going for it, but it's not perfect. I've been using it for a while now, and I've noticed both the good and the bad. Let's dive in and see if it's worth the hype.

The Quest for the Perfect Shampoo: Is This Popular Option Worth It?
I've been on a mission to find a great, safe shampoo for my little ones, and this one's been on my radar lately.
After trying out Ushatka, I was determined to find something even better. Since we wash the rest of the family's bits and bobs with solid soap, I was on the hunt for a shampoo that's specifically designed for hair.
I picked up this pen-shaped shampoo at Perekrestok for a very reasonable 175 rubles for 300 ml. At the time, I was just starting to get serious about cleaning up our household chemicals, so the fact that it didn't contain SLS was a major selling point.
I ended up with the new version of the product, although I still see the old one on the shelves.
The scent is nice and subtle, and it lathers up really well. It's gentle on my eyes, and the packaging is pretty economical. The consistency is a bit thicker than Ushatka's, but that's not a bad thing. The nozzle's not too big either - a welcome change from my previous shampoo with its massive nozzle.
I've got to say, I was a bit skeptical about using it on newborns, but I'll get to that later.
Now, let's talk about the expiration date - a whopping 3 years. That's a lot of preservatives in there!
I've been doing some digging, and EkoKosmetika has a pretty interesting take on the ingredients.

Two ingredients stand out as major red flags - the fragrance, which is listed as neutral because the manufacturer doesn't specify its source, and Ecogolik has a similar take.
Breaking down the ingredients, we've got:
Water - the main component, solvent Coco-Glucoside - a gentle surfactant. Safe to use as directed Cocamidopropyl Betaine - a gentle surfactant. May cause allergic reactions and skin irritation Citric Acid - skin cleansing and exfoliating, antioxidant. May cause allergic reactions Sodium Acrylate/Acrylic Acid Copolymer - thickener, film-forming agent, stabilizer, moisture-retaining component. Clogs pores, dries out skin Sodium Chloride (salt) - thickener, antiseptic. Safe to use as directed Glycerol Oleate - natural emulsifier, restores skin's lipid layer. Safe to use as directed p-Anisic Acid - fragrance, antimicrobial agent. Safe to use as directed Sodium Hydroxide - alkaline substance, pH regulator, exfoliating agent. Safe to use as directed, in recommended concentrations Phenoxyethanol - preservative, antiseptic, skin moisturizer. Toxic, causes allergic reactions, skin irritation Sodium Benzoate - preservative, antifungal, antiseptic. May cause allergic reactions Fragrance - natural fragrances are safe, synthetic ones can be hazardous to health
Don't get me wrong, most of these ingredients are safe, but there's one major red flag - phenoxyethanol. I wouldn't use this shampoo on newborns, but for older kids, I think it's a decent option, considering the lack of better alternatives.
I'd recommend exercising caution when using it on newborns due to the presence of phenoxyethanol. In the end, I think this shampoo is a solid choice for families looking for a gentle, effective, and affordable option.
Rating: 3.5/5 stars
Here are the pros and cons:
Gentle on skin and eyes Nice and subtle scent Lathers up well Economical packaging Decent consistency
Presence of phenoxyethanol May cause allergic reactions and skin irritation in some individuals Not suitable for newborns

live_helpFeatured FAQ

Is this shampoo good for sensitive skin?

I'd say it's okay, but it's not the most gentle shampoo I've ever used. If you have super sensitive skin, you might want to start with a small patch test to see how your skin reacts.

Does this shampoo contain any harsh chemicals?

No, it's free of SLS, which is a major plus in my book. However, it does contain some other ingredients that might not be ideal for everyone.

Can I use this shampoo on my kids?

Absolutely! I've been using it on my little ones for a while now, and they seem to love it. Just be sure to read the label carefully and follow the instructions.

Is this shampoo good for dry hair?

It's not the most moisturizing shampoo I've ever used, but it gets the job done. If you have super dry hair, you might want to look into a more nourishing option.

Can I return this shampoo if I'm not satisfied?

Yes, you can return it if you're not happy with it. Just be sure to follow the return policy carefully and contact the manufacturer if you have any issues.

Is this shampoo available in stores?

Yes, it's widely available in stores like Perekrestok. You can also find it online at various retailers.

How much does this shampoo cost?

The price is very reasonable, especially considering the size. You can find it for around 175 rubles for 300 ml.

Is this shampoo good for color-treated hair?

I'm not sure, to be honest. I've only used it on my own hair, which is not color-treated. If you have color-treated hair, you might want to do a patch test before using it.
