My Guess Watch Experience: A Solid Choice with Some Drawbacks

Hello there! I've been eyeing a watch for ages, and I finally settled on a classic Guess watch - the GW0687L1. I've had an Apple Watch on my wish list for over a year, but I ended up going for something a bit more low-key.

I have to admit, I was pretty sold on this watch from the get-go. Guess is a well-known brand in the fashion watch industry, with a huge collection and a presence that spans over a decade. They release over 100 new designs every year, which is pretty impressive.

I fell in love with the look of these watches without even seeing them in person, just based on the product image. I mean, who wouldn't want a sleek and stylish watch that fits under any top?I initially picked these out on Lamoda, but ended up ordering them from Sanlitun instead. The prices were the same, but I felt more comfortable ordering from a jeweler - I'm not sure why, but it just felt safer.

The watches arrived beautifully packaged in a Sanlitun box, complete with a smaller box inside containing the watch. I've got to say, the packaging is pretty sleek - a simple white box with the brand's logo in gold. It's minimalist and looks great. You could even give these as a gift without needing any extra wrapping.

Inside the box, the watch is sitting pretty on a white cushion - just how you'd want it to be when you're unwrapping it. It's a nice touch, especially if you're used to getting watches in zipped-up packages. As you'd expect, the watch comes with all the usual stuff - a 24-month (2-year) warranty and a user manual. I didn't really take the time to read through it all, but it's good to know it's there. The warranty info is also printed on the packaging, along with details about the materials used and a tamper-evident seal.▪️ The watch is made from stainless steel, with a quartz movement and a Japanese movement.

At first glance, I thought the design was a bit rough and not very feminine, but that's just a first impression. The watch itself is nice and compact, with clean lines and a sturdy-looking strap and case. The attention to detail is impressive, and it's clear that a lot of thought went into designing these watches.

One of the things I love about these watches is the clever clasp mechanism. I'm no expert, but essentially you just press the top and bottom parts, and the watch opens up. It's also super convenient that you can remove excess links from the strap. I have pretty slender wrists, so I had to take out quite a few (five links). Removing them is easy, we just used a needle since there wasn't a tool provided to do so. On my wrist, the watch looks sleek and stylish, and it fits under any top, whether it's a dress or a t-shirt and jeans. It blends in harmoniously and doesn't add any bulk. On my wrist, they're barely noticeable, not heavy, and don't restrict my movement at all. I wear them all day. However, I do have some concerns about durability - after six months of daily use, the strap started to scratch. It's only noticeable up close, but it's there. I get why it's happening - from working at my PC (constant contact with the case) to writing by hand (wiping the watch against my desk) - it all makes sense, but it's not exactly what I'd call pleasant. The mineral glass with anti-reflective coating doesn't scratch, but the strap is the one that's taking the hit. I've had the watch for six months now, and it still looks great - no signs of discoloration or fogging on the glass.I'd definitely recommend these watches to anyone looking to buy. One thing that's impressed me is how well they've held up. When I wear them, I love the style - it's classy, elegant, and always on point.
