I've been hooked on green smoothies for three months now, and I'm never going back! I drink 1-1.5 liters every morning instead of breakfast. It all started when I read Victoria Butenko's book 'Green for Life,' and I'm so glad I took the leap.
Green smoothies have been a game-changer for me, and I'm excited to share why:
They're packed with more vitamins and beneficial microelements than root veggies.
They're the only food group that aids in digesting other foods.
They contain chlorophyll, a green substance that's identical to hemoglobin in our blood. It efficiently and safely removes toxins and waste, cleanses our blood, and boosts hemoglobin levels.
Any green veggie contains all 9 essential amino acids (protein) that our bodies can't produce on their own.
Green smoothies mix well with fruits, veggies, meat, eggs, and even dairy products.
They're rich in antioxidants, which prevent aging and cancer, boost our immune system, and improve cell membrane defense.
They help remove bad cholesterol.
They cleanse our blood vessels, strengthen our heart, and improve our cardiovascular system.
They contain insoluble fiber that cleanses and strengthens our digestive system.
After three months, I haven't fallen ill once, which is unusual for me, especially during spring when I usually get a cold.
The first thing I noticed was my dry skin becoming moisturized, even after showers! I no longer need to use creams, and my fine lines have started to fade.
My smile lines have disappeared!
My eye wrinkles are less noticeable.
My nails have started growing stronger and whiter!
I have plenty of energy throughout the day (I'm a mom of two) and even have time for evening workouts! I'm loving the new me!
My mind is clearer, and my memory has improved significantly!
I've become more patient and calm, and I no longer get frustrated or yell at my kids.
I've lost 6 kg, going from 62 kg to 56 kg, and I've only made a few minor changes to my diet – I eat less meat and sweets, and I'm more into fresh fruits and veggies.
Here are some of my favorite recipes (keep in mind that these are my personal creations after experimenting with different combinations):
1 apple 1 banana 1/2 orange 6-8 lettuce leaves 2 tsp chia seeds 1 tsp honey 1/2 tsp cinnamon Fill a blender to 1.25 liters with water
1 apple 2 bananas 1/3 cup cranberries 2 stalks celery
1 banana 1 kiwi 1 orange 1 apple 2 stalks celery
5 lettuce leaves (from red cabbage, beets, carrots, and turnips) 1/2 cucumber 2 bananas 1 sprig of parsley 1 apple
I thought green smoothies would be gross, but they're actually delicious and similar to a fruit juice with pulp! Plus, they're a great way to get a boost of vitamins, prevent diseases, and even out your energy levels.
I make them in my favorite blender (check out my review for it).
After working out, my muscles don't ache as much due to the high magnesium content in green smoothies. Magnesium relaxes and calms muscles!
One minor downside is that I experienced bloating during the first couple of weeks due to the high fiber content, but once my body adjusted, it was fine.
I wholeheartedly recommend green smoothies to you all. They've been a total life-changer for me, and I'm sure they can do the same for you. Stay healthy!
