I've traveled abroad for all sorts of reasons - some folks go for a vacation, others to study or work, and then there are those who head overseas to build business relationships with international partners. But no matter the reason, we all end up needing a visa at some point.

I've got nothing but respect for those who take on the challenge solo, but I'm not joining their ranks anytime soon. For one, I live far from the capital city where most embassies are located, and the cost of transportation and accommodations would likely eat into my visa budget. Plus, I've got a pretty basic understanding of the visa application process. So, I'm happy to leave it to the experts.

That's exactly what I'm going to talk about today - Go China, a company that specializes in getting visas to China. As you can probably guess from the company name, they're all about helping people get visas to China.

So, why did I end up there in the first place? If you're curious, you can check out this link or this one for a more in-depth look.

I went to China to work in my field, and I did it all completely legally - and with a salary that's way higher than what I was making back home.

About the company:

Website:

[link]

Specialization:

Visa services, document legalization, job placement.

Cities where the company operates:

Ukraine, Kiev; China, Hong Kong

Pricing policy:

From what I've found online, the prices for their services are pretty standard - not too high or too low compared to their competitors.

Customer service:

Top-notch. You can get in touch with them through their online chat on their website, give them a call on their hotline, send an email, or even use WeChat. I think that last one's a huge plus, especially since they're targeting the Chinese market.

Their rep is always super polite, answers questions clearly and thoroughly, and provides all the information you need.

One thing that really impressed me was how accommodating the team was. I mean, sending and receiving documents via New Mail was no big deal, but when I needed to get a new visa sorted ASAP after returning home, they agreed to meet me in person on a Sunday at a time that suited me – and that said a lot.

Speed of work:

The speed of visa processing depends on the embassy's workload and the tariff you're using, but if we ignore those factors, the company processed my orders lightning-fast. For instance, when I submitted my documents on a Monday, the processing took 7 days, so I got my visa photo on the following Monday, and my passport was sent back to me via New Mail shortly after. It's as fast as it gets, trust me.

Result:

For me, the outcome was positive and on schedule – provided I followed the instructions to the letter and sent the correct documents package.

Website:

The website is user-friendly, easy to navigate, and not cluttered with unnecessary info. My only gripe is that it takes a bit to load – possibly due to the Great Firewall of China, or maybe it just needs some optimization. Either way, it doesn't hinder my experience.

The menu is well-designed, and all communication channels are prominently displayed. I appreciate the detailed breakdown of each visa type in images – it's clear what each digit and letter represents.

Social media presence:

The company has its own group on VKontakte – I prefer Facebook myself, but hey, each to their own.

My experience:

I applied for my first visa through Go China, and it was a type L visa – a 30-day tourist visa with one entry and a 90-day corridor. I applied in the standard 7-day processing time for $120. Payment was made after receiving the visa photo, in hryvnia, at the current exchange rate. No issues or delays whatsoever.

This visa has allowed me to stay in China, and I've had no issues passing customs checks.

It's worth noting that having a visa doesn't guarantee entry into the country. For tourist visas, you'll need to have a bank statement showing at least $1,000 on your account, as well as proof of accommodation in China and return flight tickets. Not everyone will ask for this, but it's always better to be prepared.

I've since applied for a second visa, which is a type Z visa, allowing for longer stays without needing to leave the country. This is also the only visa that allows for legitimate employment.

I landed on a Sunday, and the embassy's reception days are Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. To be honest, I wasn't too keen on hanging around the capital for a day, so the company rep agreed to pick up my documents on Sunday - huge thanks to him!

A little postscript:

Make sure you carefully research the types of visas! Apply for the one you need, not the easy one. In China, violating visa regulations can get you deported and banned for five years, and in some cases, even land you in jail. This isn't a fairy tale for naive kids - there have been precedents. Most of the time, it's young people who've come to work on student or tourist visas. Chinese police get a cash bonus for each 'illegal' they catch, which is a pretty big motivator. Plus, sometimes employers turn in their employees due to conflicts of interest or disagreements.

I'm currently in the country on a tourist visa, so I'm not working. In reality, my employer and I have agreed to take things slow for now, so I came here on a tourist visa to scope out the place. You could say it's my demo version of the next 12 months. I've looked around the city where I'll be living, checked out the flat my employer has rented for me, and got familiar with my workplace and colleagues. I've also gotten used to the country and its way of life, and most importantly, I know exactly what to bring back from home.

Takeaways:

I'm really happy with the service this company provided, and I'll definitely be using them for all my visa needs. Only wish I'd known about them sooner when I was stressing out about getting my documents in order!

I'd highly recommend them!

Update:

They sorted out my work visa in no time - just three days. Like I mentioned earlier, they picked up my passport on Sunday, and I met with their rep in the capital. The whole process was smooth, and I got my passport back in the morning before official working hours. I've since entered the country on my work visa and replaced it with a residence permit for 12 months and a work permit.

Anyway, another huge thanks to the team at this company - I'd definitely recommend them to anyone!
