A Thrilling Ride on Glaz Baltiki: Was the Price Worth It?

summarizeEditor's Summary

I'm still buzzing from our visit to the Glaz Baltiki Ferris wheel in Zelenogradsk. My boyfriend convinced me to face my fear of heights, and it was an exhilarating experience. The views of the waterfront were stunning, and I was impressed by the build quality of the cabins. The ride moves a bit too slowly for my taste, but it's still a must-visit attraction in the Kaliningrad region. The price is definitely worth it, especially considering the build quality and stunning views. Just be prepared for the crowds and long wait times.

Hello everyone!
Last weekend, my boyfriend and I visited the Kaliningrad region, and we just had to check out Zelenogradsk. We headed down to the waterfront and spotted this massive Ferris wheel, Glaz Baltiki. I have to admit, I'm terrified of heights, but my boyfriend convinced me to give it a try.
Location
The Glaz Baltiki Ferris wheel is in Zelenogradsk, right on the waterfront. It's impossible to miss, given its massive size and visibility from almost anywhere in town. If you're strolling along the waterfront, you'll definitely catch a glimpse of it.
Cost and operating hours
The adult ticket costs 700 rubles. Unfortunately, there aren't any student discounts available.
I think it's overpriced. If you're traveling with your whole family, you'll need to shell out a significant amount for just one ride! As far as I know, the prices were even higher during the New Year's holidays.
There's an additional paid service - priority access - which costs 2000 rubles. I've never seen anything like that before. Luckily, when we visited, there were no lines, and we got to ride quickly.
The Ferris wheel operates from 10 am to 11 pm on weekdays and until midnight on weekends. I'm not sure why it's still busy so late in the evening, but we visited at 4 pm, so I don't have any firsthand experience with the evening crowds.
Ride experience
We stepped into the cabin, which turned out to be closed and surprisingly cozy - it even had heating, so we didn't freeze.
I love how the lights on the sides of the Ferris wheel light up at night – it's like a little show.
The ride moves slowly, which is great because it gives you time to take in all the sights around you.
Of course, my attention was totally focused on the sea – it was absolutely stunning against the backdrop of that sunset sky!
The sky on the horizon transitioned from a soft blue to a pastel pink – it was breathtaking!
And on the other side, we got to check out the beautiful city of Zelenogradsk in all its glory.
We saw 'German-style' houses, a church, and even a water tower – it was like stepping back in time.
The view from the top is simply amazing – you can see the entire city spread out before you.
You can even see the central city park, which I'll be sure to tell you more about in my next reviews.
I couldn't get enough of the sea views.
The ride moves at a pretty slow pace, taking around 7-10 minutes to complete one full circle – but I guess that's because the wheel is so massive!
My takeaways
I'm super grateful to my partner for convincing me to face my fears and give it a try – I absolutely loved it!
The views are truly stunning, especially since we managed to catch the sunset – the sea looked like a whole new world.
I loved seeing the city from a bird's-eye view.
Is it worth paying a premium to visit the Ferris wheel? Absolutely! You won't find views like this anywhere else.
Even if you're a scaredy-cat like me, I'd recommend facing your fears and taking a ride.
Some things to keep in mind
The Ferris wheel is a bit pricey, especially if you're traveling with a big group. However, the views are truly stunning, and it's worth it for the experience alone.
One thing that surprised me was how cozy the cabin was – it even had heating, so we didn't freeze.
If you're visiting during the evening, be prepared for crowds, but the Ferris wheel operates until midnight on weekends, so you've got plenty of time to check it out.
Overall, I'd definitely recommend Glaz Baltiki to anyone visiting Zelenogradsk – just be prepared for the price tag.
