Editor's Summary
I was stoked to try the new Givenchy Irresistible Nude Velvet perfume, but unfortunately, it didn't quite live up to my expectations. The scent is a continuation of the iconic Very Irresistible, but it falls short in terms of quality and longevity. The fragrance is a floral woody EDP with a 35, 50, or 80 ml volume, made in France. While the packaging is sleek and modern, the performance is lacking. Givenchy Irresistible Nude Velvet is a disappointing addition to the Irresistible series, and I wouldn't recommend it. If you're looking for a reliable, long-lasting perfume, you might want to consider other options. But if you're a fan of the brand, you might still want to give it a try, as it's a decent representation of the Irresistible style. The price is around 7600 rubles, depending on the retailer.

Key information.
Givenchy Irresistible Nude Velvet is the latest flanker in the Irresistible series, released in 2024. This fragrance is a continuation of Very Irresistible, one of the most iconic and recognizable perfumes of the 2000s.
I have to say, the description of this perfume is pretty underwhelming, and it doesn't even come close to the real thing:
Givenchy Irresistible Nude Velvet is an incredibly captivating and sensual fragrance. It fills you with confidence, charm, and an unmistakable sense of elegance.
The composition opens with a fresh blend of neroli and almond milk, which is enhanced by the warm, spicy aroma of ambrette seeds. At its heart lies a stunning bouquet of damask rose, iris, and rosewater. A woody chord of cedar and soft musk creates an irresistible trail.
Like a second skin, this sensual fragrance envelops you in a powerful, captivating aura, giving you confidence and revealing your boldest sides.
Design of the Irresistible bottle is pretty straightforward, but that's not exactly what I'd call exciting. Considering the current price (without discounts in network stores, the minimum volume will cost around 9600 rubles...), I personally would have liked something more visually appealing. But hey, that's just nitpicking.
I've got two 1.2ml testers, each one packed in a cardboard blister:
Atomizer is pretty tight, and both of my testers had a bit of a hard time spraying at first – I had to press them a few times before they started working.
Sillage.
To put it bluntly, it's not exactly captivating. Yeah, the iris and rose and almond notes are interesting, but not enough to make me want to buy the fragrance just because of the composition.
Top notes: Ambrette, Neroli, Almond
Middle notes: Iris, Rose
Base notes: Cedar, Musk, Rice
How I perceive the scent
Irresistible Nude Velvet has a pretty solid and dense sound to it, with a rich unfolding and a long dry-down. It's got that 'premium' vibe, something you'd expect from a high-end fragrance. But, at the same time, I personally just can't see myself wearing this as a flanker to Irresistible, and here's why.
I'll be honest, the opening is super loud, and I was willing to overlook it if this wasn't a 'vintage trunk' – in the worst possible way. It's literally old, dusty rags that were once liberally sprayed with perfume and then left in a closet for who-knows-how-long. Plus, an old, oxidized lipstick. I have nothing against ambrette, neroli, and almond individually, but in this specific case, it's an unbearable, stale combination that's cloying and overwhelming, and I just can't say anything good about the composition or the scent itself.
The dry down smooths out the initial impression, and overall, I like it: about an hour to an hour and a half after application, the soft, creamy iris comes to the forefront, gentle and calm. It's beautifully balanced by the rose, which is also incredibly delicate and feminine. Unfortunately, all this beauty is extremely close to the skin and doesn't project at all...
The base, on the other hand, is very thick and aggressive, with a clear masculine character that's completely off-topic, given that Givenchy Irresistible Nude Velvet is definitely not unisex – it's a story about femininity and delicacy. But, alas... For me, this scent has too much musk, which, combined with the wood notes, gives a completely unbearable sourness. I've made multiple attempts with this perfume, but each time, I felt extremely uncomfortable and wanted to take a shower as soon as possible and stay away from this flanker.
Who's it for? Where to wear it?
I used to have Givenchy Eaudemoiselle, and, in my opinion, it's similar to Givenchy Irresistible Nude Velvet in terms of mood, but, unlike this one, it's wearable. Both scents are retro-inspired, but Eaudemoiselle is style and sophistication, while Irresistible Nude Velvet is a craft project.
Honestly, the daytime scent for women over 30 is a total miss for me, sounding equally awful on a chilly, overcast day as it does on a hot one. It's office-friendly, though – at least, I haven't heard any negative comments about this perfume (although retro can be a real turn-off, and Paco Rabanne Olympea Intense is a prime example of that).
Longevity
is impressive. I can still smell the scent 8-9 hours after application (on my skin), and the strongest notes last for about 4-5 hours. The sillage is incredibly long – literally, a kilometer-long – and that's just with the samples, which are basically impossible to 'overapply'.
Pros of Givenchy Irresistible Nude Velvet:
Long-lastingA luxurious, feminine scent
Old-fashionedHeavy, overpoweringUnpleasant masculine baseMusky notes that give off a sour toneNot wearable
Verdict.
This scent is just weird. The beautiful composition, the incredibly long sillage, and the rich development – all paired with a terrible, heavy 'grandma's attic' start and an even more nauseating dense masculine base that gives off a sour tone.
Personally, it's not wearable for me, although I did give Givenchy Irresistible Nude Velvet a few chances. Unfortunately, it's a total miss for me.
