Hello everyone! I'm super excited to share my experience at the Ginza Project Flagship restaurant in Ginza.
I'm a huge fan of the Ginza Project restaurant chain, and this flagship location did not disappoint. The service, food, and atmosphere in each location are all top-notch and unique in their own way.
So, let's dive into the details of my visit. The restaurant is located in a relatively central part of St. Petersburg, specifically on Apothecary Street, house 16. It's just a 15-minute walk from Petrogradskaya metro station. When you approach, you'll see the GP logo on the building.
However, finding the entrance was a bit of an adventure. We walked around the entire building and only spotted some signs in a corner. But that wasn't the main entrance yet! After that alley, you need to turn left and navigate through a dark maze. There's no staff or clear signage, which made us feel a bit lost. Honestly, we were about to turn back, but we persisted and made it to the entrance.
Upon entering, we were NOT GREETED BY ANYONE. The waiters only told us to pass through the restaurant to hand in our belongings and to be escorted to our table. We still couldn't understand where the main entrance was or why the navigation in the restaurant was so confusing. It turned out that the entrance we used (which was a summer veranda) was still crowded with guests.
The atmosphere inside the restaurant is luxurious – no debate about that. Everything is beautifully designed and elegant. Ginza is famous for its exotic animals, and I was totally charmed by the cozy atmosphere of the 'Terrace' hall. The lush greenery, plush carpets, and the sweet chirping of parrots in their cages made me feel like I was in a tropical paradise.
During the summer months, everyone flocks to the 'Lawn' area for a breath of fresh air, where they've set up canopies, a pond with golden fish, and a picturesque garden. And then, the biggest surprise - we spotted a lazy cat snoozing on our table's couch! Isn't that just the cutest thing? I was so tempted to just snuggle with it all day, but I managed to restrain myself.
Service at this restaurant is top-notch. The waitstaff are incredibly polite and attentive. They cleared our plates and dirty napkins in no time. The variety of dishes on the menu is impressive, and you'll definitely find something to suit your taste buds.
I opted for the Tortellini with ragu (1190 rub), but the presentation was quite amusing, to be honest. The second dish was Mashed potatoes with braised beef (890 rub), which was also pretty bland. The beef cubes were tiny! We also ordered a 1L tea, mixed berry/ginger, but it was too bitter (they overdid it with the ginger). We almost ordered dessert, but changed our minds.
We paid 3370 rubles for the whole thing, which, in my opinion, is absolutely not worth the money. The restaurant is super cozy and nicely located, with excellent service and super friendly staff. The quiet and atmospheric place, lovely and calm animals, and great furniture make it a great spot. However, it's hard to find (no clear signs) / no one greets you at the entrance, the food was a letdown, and the prices are way too high.
It's spacious, and you've got all the essentials (from tampons to cotton balls). I could totally see myself chillin' on that summer patio - it's gonna be awesome! But let's be real, we might not be back there anytime soon. The food was a total letdown...
I'd give it 3 out of 5. If you're looking for a spot to hit up in the spring or summer when the patio's open, I'd recommend it.
