- We got to the hotel, only to find out our room was already occupied – talk about a nightmare.
- The whole experience was a total letdown, to be honest.
- Fun & Sun didn't even apologize for the mess they made – that was a major red flag.
- The charter flight was with Turkish Airlines, which was fine, but Azur Air for the return was a bit of a gamble.
- The whole ordeal left a bad taste in our mouths – we won't be booking with them again anytime soon.

Hello there,
I'm so glad I didn't bother reading reviews about Fun & Sun before booking our Turkey trip, or we might've changed our tour operator. I mean, their rating is pretty low, and I was convinced the issues were with the hotel, but after reading reviews, I realized it was more the tour operator's fault. So, let's get into the nitty-gritty.
I'll be sharing our experience with Fun & Sun in Turkey this summer – how everything was organized, the good and the bad.
Fun & Sun reviews
Let's start with the flightSince we booked a package tour, our flight was a charter. We flew with Turkish Airlines to get there and Azur Air to come back. No delays on either side, and we landed safely, but that's not exactly Fun & Sun's doing – kudos to the pilots and airlines in general.
Tour operator FUN&SUN Turkey AlanyaAfter landing in Turkey, we found the Fun & Sun desk at the airport exit to the right. We grabbed our bus number and headed over. The bus was small but decent. It wasn't brand new, but it was comfortable.
Fun & Sun Turkey Alanya reviewsTransfer to the hotelThe driver helped us load our luggage. We were a full bus, and some people didn't have seats, so they had to hold a kid on their lap. Our hotel was the farthest, so we were on the road for about 3 hours. We stopped at a roadside complex along the way, where you could grab some food, souvenirs, or use the restroom. I was a bit taken aback by how dirty it was. I mean, it was literally 5 meters away from this:
Excursions Fun & Sun Turkey reviewsThe driver was careful, but he took a few wrong turns – we ended up circling a pretty run-down village to the left of the highway when we should've gone right, and we passed the same roundabout a few times. I'm not sure if the driver was skipping turns or just lost, but after that night flight, it was exhausting.
Finally, we arrived at our hotel, and that's when things took a turn for the worse – our room was occupied. They offered to move us to another hotel in the same chain for one night, promising it was just as good, that we'd be picked up by 9 am, and that our room would come with some complimentary perks... yeah, right.
I have to say, we were pretty disappointed with the hotel's level of service. We booked a five-star hotel, but what we got was more like a three-star experience. The next morning, we were waiting to be picked up at 9 am, but it ended up being a 30-minute drive to get to the hotel. To make matters worse, there was only one car to take all of us, and it was a tiny Lada Largus. I mean, why not just send a bigger bus or have a schedule to pick people up every 30 minutes? But no, that would be too easy. Instead, we ended up waiting until 11:30 am, and even then, it was after a bit of an argument with the reception staff. They basically told us that it was the fault of the five-star hotel we booked, and that we should be talking to them instead.
So, already on the second day of our 12-day trip, things are not going as smoothly as we had hoped. When we arrived, we were greeted with another surprise - our room wasn't ready. Apparently, the previous guests were still in the room, and it hadn't been cleaned yet. We were given a temporary room, and told to go swimming for a couple of hours and then come back to our room. I mean, can you imagine having to unpack and repack your bags, just to go swimming and then come back and do it all again?
So, we ended up skipping the swimming and just hanging out at the hotel for a couple of hours, having lunch and then finally getting to our room. I was thinking that maybe it was just a one-off mistake, but then I saw that a lot of other tourists were having the same problem, so I'm guessing it's more of a tour operator issue.
Hotel GuidesOur hotel guide was a real letdown. I counted three different guides working at the hotel, and we got the one who was the most pushy and money-hungry. The prices for the excursions he was offering were outrageous, and he wouldn't even give us a printed price list. He'd just give us the name of the excursion and then tell us the price. I'm not saying he was definitely overcharging us by $100, but it definitely seemed like it. Here are some examples of the prices he was quoting:
And to make matters worse, he wasn't even interested in helping us with our problems with the hotel. His main priority was selling us on his excursions. He'd offer to write down our names on a piece of paper, but when I asked if we could cancel if we changed our minds, he said no, we couldn't. So, what's the point of even writing down our names in the first place?
Getting back to the airport, we were sent a sick Mercedes bus - it was huge and super comfy. The bus driver, though, was clueless - he didn't even tell us if we could take our carry-on bags on board. I have to say, the rep who met us at the airport in Turkey didn't give us any info about the country either. I remember previous trips where they at least gave us a little background.
fun sun reviews
THE BOTTOM LINE,
I'm not exactly thrilled with the tour operator. The whole check-in process was a mess, and the hotel rep didn't really have our backs - they just wanted to sell us overpriced excursions.
Tour Operator FUN&SUN reviews For example, the boat tour with fun sun cost us $133 for two adults and one kid, while we could've booked it through the tour company for $65 - that's a huge difference. I'd have been okay with the excursion prices, but these hotel swaps and lack of organization are a major turnoff. It's like nobody cares - not the hotel, not the tour operator, not the hotel rep... I don't know if other tour operators are better, but I expected more from fun sun.
FUN&SUN reviews I guess, considering how other trips have gone, I should be grateful that ours even happened, but I wanted more attention, less hassle, and a chance to just relax in my hotel room without all the moving around.
Three stars from me.
Thanks for reading!
