A Fun Holiday Read for Kids: 'The School in Dedmorozovka' by Andrey Usachev
Hello, fellow book lovers!
I'm thrilled to share that my son has developed a passion for reading, and I've been on the hunt for a story that captures the magic of the holiday season. That's when I stumbled upon Andrey Usachev's children's book, and I remembered enjoying his other work, 'Sonya the Dog'. I decided to start with one of his Dedmorozovka series, curious to see how the story would unfold.
As I write this, the snow outside is creating a perfect winter wonderland atmosphere, and we've even managed to get some snow playtime in over the weekend. It's a scene straight out of my childhood, building snowmen and enjoying the crisp winter air. But let's get back to the book!
The story revolves around Ded Moroz, who's feeling a bit overwhelmed with the upcoming New Year's Eve celebrations and decides to enlist the help of some snowmen. These snowmen are adorable, behaving just like little kids, and Snygurka opens up a school to teach them.
I loved the names of the snowmen (Morvkin, Varezhkin, Kosichkin, and so on) and how Ded Moroz reacts to their antics. It's a great reminder that we're all unique, with our own interests and ways of thinking.
It's thanks to these snowmen that the village became known as Dedmorozovka.
The book features delightful stories, and my son particularly enjoyed the one about the rabbit. There are also plenty of colorful illustrations to keep young readers engaged.
The text is easy to read, and my son was able to follow along without any issues.
One of the things that stood out to me was the way the author wove together the different stories and characters. It's clear that he has a deep understanding of what makes a great children's book.
My son and I both loved the stories about the young snowmen - they're hilarious!
The illustrations are vibrant and plentiful, making the story even more enjoyable.
I'm so glad we discovered this series, and I highly recommend 'The School in Dedmorozovka' by Andrey Usachev to anyone looking for a fun holiday read.
Thanks for reading my review!
