Sokolov Sterling Silver Pendant with Fianite in Art. 93030591-800

I've gotta say, this Sokolov pendant is a real head-turner. The sterling silver shines like crazy, and that fianite stone adds a splash of color that's hard to ignore. It's the perfect accessory for dressing up or adding a touch of elegance to your everyday look - and it's made with high-quality materials to boot.

Getting a Free Pendant with Purchase - Where to Buy and How to Get It, But Be Aware of Disappointing Quality.

summarizeEditor's Summary

I recently scored a sweet silver pendant, but my excitement was short-lived. The promotion at Befree and Modis sounds too good to be true, and the quality of the pendant I got as a gift was subpar. I'm sharing my experience to help you make an informed decision. If you're looking for a quality accessory, you might want to think twice about this offer. The pendant I got was a nice design, but the build quality was lacking. The chain was flimsy, and the clasp felt cheap. I'm not sure if it's worth the hassle, but I'm sharing my experience to help you decide. In my case, the pendant arrived just a few days after I made the purchase, but I'm not sure if that's the usual delivery time. You should check with the store for more information. One thing that's worth noting is that the sales associates are friendly and will help you with the process.

Getting a Free Pendant with Purchase - Where to Buy and How to Get It, But Be Aware of Disappointing Quality.
I'm a sucker for accessories that double as jewelry, and it doesn't matter if it's a fancy piece or a quirky trinket. I know plenty of people who stick to the basics – a wedding band, some stud earrings, and a cross necklace. But that's just too predictable for me. I love switching up my accessories to match my mood and style.
Over a month ago, I scored a beautiful silver 800-proof pendant with the same design as the one I got as a gift for making a purchase at the store.
I only know two stores that give you a flyer for choosing any pendant you like from their selection when you make a purchase: Befree and Modis.
To get the gift, you just need to be registered in the Sokolov club program. All you need to do is tell the cashier your phone number. You don't need to download the app, although the sales associate will ask you to. One common reason for rejection might be that your phone has no memory or no internet connection...
The promotion is valid until August 31, 2024.
Golden earrings arrived just a few days ago, and before that, I only had the silver version. I got the earrings as a gift for making a purchase at Modis. The amount on the receipt doesn't matter, I got one flyer for buying a 99-rubles bomb and the second purchase was 299 rubles.
You can only participate in the action once. I have two extra flyers from different stores, but I can't get the earrings again using these flyers. Unless someone registers me and gets the earrings on a different number.
Packaging
A sealed, light blue package with the SOKOLOV brand visible through a heart-shaped window. On the back of the package, you can see right through it and get some general info about the product from the manufacturer:
They've got the metal type listed as silver 800 proofIt's a pendant, no questionThe product code is 93030591-800The stone is a type of fianit, which is basically a non-precious gemstoneThe manufacturer is AO "Yuvelit"The weight is 0.28 grams
Design of the Pendant
I've got to say, the design of this pendant is pretty sweet. It's a small fianit stone, surrounded by a golden metal base on a stem. The stone is held in place by four little feet. The pendant is tiny (1 cm long), making it perfect for wearing in a throat loop or on a chain.
The stone is clean and transparent thanks to plenty of holes that let light pass through it. I love how the stone sparkles in the sun, reflecting rainbow colors. And that's exactly what happens because there's not a lot of metal around the stone.
Wearing Options
As I mentioned earlier, I think this tiny pendant is perfect for wearing on a short chain in a throat loop. I have to say, the pendant looks tiny at first, but paired with the stone, it looks sleek and eye-catching. I'm a fan of these kinds of understated details – the delicate chain around my neck is almost invisible, yet it's impossible to ignore.
You can totally wear it on a longer chain over your clothes – I'll get into that in the 'is it silver?' section later.
You don't need to match this pendant to a specific color tone, because gold and silver look harmonious with any color and even style of clothing. Classic simplicity is timeless.
The wide earring loop means you can wear it with a wide-woven bangle. The pendant looks understated, yet has a delicate touch. The little stones catch the sunlight nicely when my hand moves. It doesn't swing around or wobble on the bangle.
I'm a fan of mixing two metal tones, even though many people think you should only pair gold with gold and silver with silver. But that's not true. Nowadays, many jewelers combine two metal tones in one piece. For example, I have a similar pendant that combines gold and silver.
Now, let's talk about the watches with a black face and the silver and gold metal, but I had a two-tone gold ring before, and this one's got white and rose gold - not rhodium plating that only covers the visible part.
You can wear two chains in different metal tones and add a pendant of the same design but in a different color. It looks like a thoughtful combination, like a single piece of jewelry, not a haphazard idea. You can even swap the pendants, putting a silver pendant on a gold chain and a gold one on a silver chain. It looks original.
Is It Silver?
I still remember writing a review for Sokolov's gift items, questioning whether the 800 silver was genuine, and I pointed out that there was no proof. And loads of people told me that you don't need a hallmark on small weight items, fair enough. But there's a YUVUV hallmark (AO 'Yuvelit' made it) and an S, yet 800 can't be 'struck'? Oh well, let's just forget about the missing hallmark...
I wore the silver pendant pretty often and the reverse side became really matte. The rhodium plating, if it was even there, is completely gone. Although I didn't swim with this thing, it just got discolored from contact with my skin. And if I had swum, the top side would've turned dark and matte too.
For comparison, the color of silver on my real silver necklace, which I've worn in the bath, shower, river, and even the ocean, still looks like real silver - no plating has worn off from contact with water.
So, it seems like the manufacturer is giving a gift and initially deceiving the recipients, claiming this is 800 silver. In reality, it's just cheap jewelry. Why deceive customers? What kind of relationship can you expect from a store that lies about the 'silver' on a free pendant? They could've just put a label that says it's a jewelry alloy and that's fine - we're getting a trinket for the price. Don't look a gift horse in the mouth, but here it's just dishonesty.
Protecting Your Gift from Damage
To avoid scratching the item, I like to coat the reverse side with a clear, transparent lacquer. It's a simple trick that's saved me from damage on other gift items over the years.
The Verdict
If you can look past the fact that it's not real silver, and instead treat it as a decorative trinket that's best worn under clothing, you'll get a lot of use out of this gift.
Even after applying a clear coat, I still wear it under my clothes to protect it from damage. It's still shining bright on the front, but the back has a slight discoloration.
Pros
a great giftbeautiful designthe fianit really shines in the sunlight
Cons
the gold plating might wear offit's not real silver
