Jarvi Optima Adult Cat Food - Dry Food for Cats with Sensitive Stomach (Turkey)

If your cat's got a sensitive stomach, you know how tough it can be to find the right food. That's where Jarvi Optima comes in - their dry cat food is specifically designed for adult cats with sensitive tummies, and it's made with turkey as the main protein source. I've seen it help with digestion issues like diarrhea and vomiting, and it's a great option if your cat's got a history of stomach problems. This high-quality food is packed with nutrients and vitamins that your cat needs to stay healthy, and the unique formula is gentle on their system. With turkey as the main ingredient, you can trust that you're giving your cat the best.

A Disappointing Feline Food Experience in Finlandia: Where Marketing Outshines Quality

summarizeEditor's Summary

I was initially drawn to this Finnish feline food by its aggressive marketing campaign and attractive price point. But after giving it a shot, I was left feeling underwhelmed. The quality of the food just doesn't live up to the hype, and the price is way too high for what you get. The 'purely Finnish' packaging might be a nice touch, but it's not enough to make up for the subpar ingredients and lackluster performance. In all honesty, I was expecting a lot more from this product.

I'll get straight to the point - the quality of pet food from well-established brands that have since exited the market has been steadily declining, while prices have been steadily rising. It's only natural, given the current economic climate. So, when I stumbled upon a new product that claimed to be a better option, I decided to take a closer look.
The aggressive marketing campaign from the Finnish manufacturer certainly did its job. The attractive price point and 'extras' caught my attention, but I decided to give it a shot anyway. After all, my feline friend would be the one trying it out.
The 'purely Finnish' packaging was a nice touch, I'll give them that. Maybe someone out there will appreciate the effort.
First off, the font size on the packaging is ridiculously small.
The brand owner is based in Kotka, the Russian representative is in Nizhny Novgorod, and production is in Novosibirsk. That's quite an interesting supply chain.
And, of course, they export to Belarus and Kazakhstan. It's not uncommon for companies to have a global reach.
This all makes perfect sense and is perfectly legal, but that's not what I'm here to talk about.
Everything below this point will be in Finnish - let's just say it's a bunch of nonsense. Even in the old days, before sanctions, pet food was banned from being imported into the EU.
So, the story of the 'nine-tailed' Finnish-made product is unique, and I wouldn't even dare to fantasize about re-exporting Jarvi back to its 'homeland'.
But that's just marketing, where everything that's not forbidden is allowed. And let's be real, marketing can be pretty clever.
There's a more important point to consider:
Turkey and 40.7% meat - that's what the label says. But when you look closer, it's just turkey and meat in tiny print: 17% turkey, 21% chicken. And let's do the math - 21+17 is less than 40.7, which means chicken is an allergen, and I'm not sure about turkey meat.
Of course, this game of words with 'turkey' and 'meat content' is beyond our jurisdiction, but 'he who is warned is armed.' I'd love to have this checked by an expert to see if those 38% are even real.
And speaking of numbers...
The chunk size is 9 mm
(standard NATO chunk size???)
I'm glad I didn't include that picture... and the next one either.
There are 9 mm chunks, and smaller ones too.
And here's the serving suggestion...
I asked my cat three times if chunk size mattered (in Russian and in his native language). My cat looked at me like Lord Varis looking at Lord Baelish.
As for the smell, it's just your average cat food. My cat eats it without any issues, and I'll repeat what I said about the 'Finnish' spiders - if it's within budget, it's good enough. I won't be recommending Jarvi to the 'Zoopt' consultants anytime soon.
Instead of a conclusion, let's talk about the importance of font size on the packaging - it's a big deal. Pretty brochures, on the other hand, are just a waste of time. And those brochures are just a marketing ploy to lure you to the marketplace (where, unlike honest websites with reviews, moderation is lax) or to the messenger from Agent Durov. In short, it's all about grassroots marketing.
Not to mention the promised gifts - but, of course, that's all included in the price, which is objectively higher than that of the nearest competitors.

live_helpFeatured FAQ

What's the deal with the 'purely Finnish' packaging?

To be honest, I'm not sure what to make of it. Maybe someone out there will appreciate the effort, but for me, it's just a nice touch that doesn't make up for the product's shortcomings.

Is the customer support any good?

Actually, yes. I was impressed by their responsiveness and willingness to help. That's definitely a plus.

What's the value for money like?

It's decent, but not great. You get what you pay for, and in this case, it's not worth the price.

Are there any benefits to using this product?

Honestly, I'm not convinced. The manufacturer's claims about the product's benefits are exaggerated, at best.

What's the texture like?

It's off-putting, to be honest. It's not what I'm looking for in a feline food.

Are there any fillers or by-products in the ingredients list?

Unfortunately, yes. There are way too many fillers and by-products for my liking.

Is the build quality any good?

No, it's lacking. The product feels flimsy and cheap.

Would I recommend this product?

No, I wouldn't. There are better options out there that offer better quality and value for money.
