A Surprisingly Good Ham: Even My Fussy Cat Gave It Two Paws Up!

I recently picked up the Farmers' Korean-Style Ham from Cherki-zovo for the first time, and I was pleasantly surprised by a few aspects. First, let's talk about the packaging - it's a nice touch that they use vacuum packaging with a label stating that it's made from meat from their own farms.

However, when I dug deeper, I found mixed info online about whether A.O. 'ChMPZ' actually has its own livestock farms. The label also claims it's without GMOs and growth hormones, but I'm not sure how you'd verify that. It does boast 'refined taste,' which is a nice selling point.

On the back, there's a tiny print listing the ingredients, which include a lot of stuff beyond just pork - wheat fiber, acidity regulators, stabilizers, beef protein, salt, antioxidants, glutamate sodium (which was a disappointment), a colorant derived from insects (carmin), and, as often mentioned, it may contain traces of mustard, sesame, soy, and eggs. The print is so small that if you have poor eyesight, you won't be able to read it.

When I cut it open, the ham looked pretty decent. There were some small tight spots closer to the edge, minimal fat, which is normal for a pork product.

I personally prefer to remove the rind from meat delicacies, but some people eat it without removing it. There was a bit of what looked like cold cuts on the rind.

I'm glad to say that it didn't feel like it was pumped with some unknown liquid to increase its weight, which can be a problem with some meat products. It pairs well with just bread or a sandwich with cheese and fresh cucumber. It's quite filling, so you won't be able to eat a lot at once.

I was really pleased to find that the ham wasn't over-salted, which is a common problem with meat products. Sometimes, I even had to boil it to get rid of the excess salt.

But what really surprised me was that my extremely finicky cat reacted to the smell and didn't turn down the offer - it even enjoyed the piece of Farmers' Korean-Style Ham I gave it! This is extremely rare for my cat, as it usually refuses to eat anything but its regular food. As a cat owner, you know that if your cat has been eating the same brand of cat food for years, it can be quite picky about trying new foods. I've experienced this firsthand with my cat, which won't touch store-bought chicken but will devour homemade turkey.

The Verdict: a decent meat delicacy weighing around 300 grams, passed the 'test' with my fussy cat, and sometimes worth buying. I say 'sometimes' because I try to minimize products that are processed using smoking, but it's nice to indulge every now and then! I'd give it a 4 out of 5 due to the long list of ingredients beyond just pork.
