A Fantasia Anna Sui Review: Why I Regret My Blind Purchase

summarizeEditor's Summary

I'm still trying to figure out how I ended up buying the Fantasia Anna Sui perfume without even smelling it first. I'd been eyeing it for ages, and when I saw it on sale, I just couldn't resist. But, as you'll see, it was a costly mistake. I'll admit it – I'd been waiting for over a year to get my hands on this perfume. I'd seen it online, and the more I looked at it, the more I wanted it. But I'm stubborn, and I refused to buy it blindly from an online store. So, I waited until I could get it from Letouaille instead. What I got was a perfume that didn't live up to my expectations. The packaging is sleek and modern, which is definitely a plus. The scent does linger on the skin for a decent amount of time. The perfume comes in a generous 1 oz size, which is nice for the price. The bottle itself is made of sturdy glass, which feels high-quality. The cap is a nice touch, it's easy to screw on and off. The perfume has a nice, consistent fragrance that doesn't change much over time. But, unfortunately, the scent itself is just too sweet for my taste. It's not as long-lasting as I'd like, especially considering the price. The fragrance is overpowering and can be overwhelming at times. I didn't find the scent to be particularly unique or memorable. The perfume doesn't seem to last as long on clothing as it does on skin. And, to top it all off, the price is just too high for what you get.

Hello!
I'm still trying to wrap my head around how I ended up buying the Fantasia Anna Sui perfume without even smelling it first. I'd been eyeing it for ages, and when I saw it on sale, I just couldn't resist. But, as you'll see, it was a costly mistake.
PurchaseI'll admit it – I'd been waiting for over a year to get my hands on this perfume. I'd seen it online, and the more I looked at it, the more I wanted it. But I'm stubborn, and I refused to buy it blindly from an online store. So, I waited until I could get it from Letouaille instead.
Okay, let's get real – I actually went to an offline store to test the fragrance, but it wasn't there. And, as usual, the mobile app had some amazing deals that ended on the very day I was thinking of buying it. Considering the discounted price, which was way more affordable than I expected, I decided to take the plunge.
Price: 1996 rubles
Volume: 50 ml
Format: Eau de Toilette
Country of Origin: France
Year of Creation: 2017
AppearanceThe packaging of the bottle and even the box it comes in is absolutely charming. The designs on the box are so intricate that you could spend hours staring at them.
I have to say, the gold patterns with those heavenly blue undertones work really well together.
The bottle itself is just amazing! My inner child, who's been screaming 'Buy it! Buy it! Buy it!' for years, is over the moon!
As for the build quality, the bottle is decent. It's got some unique glasswork and it's all gold. The metal unicorn figurine is a nice touch, although it would've been even better if it had a little wheel at the bottom like a lighter.
But no, it doesn't spin. To get the powder out, you have to stick your finger between the unicorn and the base. It's a bit of a hack, but I'm just glad my finger fits!
As for the atomizer, mine's a bit wonky, but it doesn't affect the functionality. The spray comes out pretty strongly and it leaves a nice, moist feel on the skin.
Pyramid
Top notes: pomelo, pink pepper.
Middle notes: praline, raspberry, floral notes.
Base notes: cypress, Himalayan cedar.
Aroma
Usually, I'd do my impressions in a separate section, but in this case, I'm going to take the opportunity to rant twice. I hate the scent! I really do.
Let me get one thing straight – I wasn't expecting anything serious or complex from it. In fact, I was hoping for a sweet, feel-good scent that would lift my mood. Unfortunately, it's just... nothing.
I have to say, I don't get any cohesion, top notes, middle notes, or development from this fragrance. It just sounds like it fell apart an hour ago. Who knows what the original intention was.
Maybe it's like a dessert that's been left out in the heat and has melted, so I have no idea what it's supposed to be – a mousse, an ice cream, or something else. I see an ananas drifting around, and that's about it.
Let me try to gather my thoughts and describe how this scent smells to me. It 'sounds' vague, sticky, and sweet-fruity, with an ananas note and a woody base. I didn't notice any development.
Longevity and sillage
This fragrance lasts for over 4 hours. There's a small sillage.
Is Fantasia Anna Sui similar to Bombshell Victoria's Secret?
I think this is worth mentioning. I used to have a sample of Bombshell from 2020, and I even wrote a scathing review of this fragrance. I found it charming, but I bemoaned its simplicity for the price. I re-read my review, got a little choked up about inflation, and cringed at my own harshness. Now, I measure things differently, but that's beside the point.
Bombshell is a relatively simple fragrance, and I remember it having a somewhat unnatural note, but it was bright, fruity, and structured. That's what I liked about it. So, when I saw people comparing Fantasia to Bombshell, it played a role in my blind purchase – I wanted something in that vein. What I want to say is that, based on my memories, the two fragrances share some fruity motifs, but they're not similar at all.
My ImpressionsI have to say, the scent really didn't do it for me. There's nothing particularly wrong with it, it's just completely unremarkable. If it wasn't for the sticky feeling it leaves behind, I might even say it's pleasant, but still, it's nothing special.
So, to sum it up – buying perfumes blind is a total waste of money. Fantasia is definitely one of my biggest disappointments in blind purchases. I've been eyeing this bottle for ages and thought the scent would be just as great. What I got was a decorative piece and the feeling that this is probably my worst perfume purchase of the year, and it's not even halfway through.
I should mention that perfume preferences are super subjective, so I hope people understand where I'm coming from.
I wouldn't recommend Fantasia Anna Sui! Three stars for the price, the bottle, and decent longevity.
On a related note, I'll leave some reviews for other perfumes in cartoon bottles.
Love Chopard – a perfume about Love, but it's not exactly what I'd call a feeling;
Toy boy Moschino – a men's perfume that girls buy for themselves;
Oh ma biche Lolita Lempicka – a cute everyday scent;
Princess Vera Wang – a bottle in the shape of a heart with rings instead of a cap, designed by a wedding dress designer;
Thanks for reading, see you later!
Now that I've had a chance to put the PowerPro 5000 through its paces, I'm really impressed with how it's held up. I've been using it for a week now, and the build quality still feels solid. The buttons are easy to press, and the battery life has been better than I expected – I've been using it for hours without needing to recharge. I've also been happy with the customer support I've received so far – the team has been quick to respond to my questions and have been super helpful. If you're in the market for a new power tool, I'd definitely recommend checking out the PowerPro 5000 – it's a great option for anyone looking for a reliable and easy-to-use tool.
