Avanta Atopic Soothing Cream

I've tried a bunch of creams for my little one's sensitive skin, but this one's been a total game-changer. It's super gentle, yet effective - I've seen it calm even the most stubborn rashes in no time. Plus, it's long-lasting relief from irritation and redness, which is a total sanity-saver for parents like me.

My Expensive Mistake with Atopic Dermatitis: A Cautionary Tale

summarizeEditor's Summary

I recently fell for a pricey stick cream for my 1-year-9-month-old's atopic dermatitis, thinking it would be a game-changer. But what I got was a product that worsened my kid's condition. The stick cream promised to be compact, mess-free, and easy to use, but it failed to deliver any noticeable results. With a hefty price tag of over 1000 rubles for a 15g stick, I was expecting a lot more. I'm sharing my experience to help you avoid making the same mistake. Here's what went wrong and what you should look for in a suitable product.

Stick creams have been all the rage lately, and I'm not surprised. They're compact, mess-free, and super easy to use.
My little one (1.9 years old) has atopic dermatitis, which is a real challenge. We've been following a strict diet and daily routine - you can read more about it in my review of Advantan.
I've also recently started a list of supportive creams that are safe to use outside of flare-ups. You can check it out in my review of Comfoderm.
When I saw that La Roche-Posay had released a stick cream in their Lipikar line, I was intrigued. I was planning a trip with my kid to another city and needed a compact product for neurodermatitis.
Unfortunately, the La Roche-Posay stick cream was way out of my budget - over 1000 rubles for a 15g stick.
So, I was thrilled to find a similar product for less than 200 rubles.
But, as it often does, excitement got the better of me, and I waited too long to order...

ATOPIC CREAM-STICK SOOTHING 4.9 PENAL
I bought it from AptekiRu (direct link to the product)
Price: 180 rubles
PACKAGING
It started off well: a sturdy cardboard box.
I love the creative packaging, with fun phrases like 'since birth' and 'tested there.'
FORMULA:
Capric/caprylic triglyceride, synthetic beeswax, shea butter, S10-S18 triglycerides, STIMU-TEX AS, sunflower oil, vitamin E acetate, bisabolol, rapeseed oil (and) butylhydroxytoluene (and) butylhydroxyanisole (and) propylgallate (and) propylene glycol (and) monoglycerides (and) citric acid.
xa0
PHARMACOLOGICAL ACTION:
-Relieves dryness, irritation, and itchiness of the skin -Protects the skin from allergic reactions -Strengthens the skin barrier, retains moisture -Has anti-inflammatory action -Has histamine-blocking (anti-allergic) action
xa0
HOW IT LOOKS:
Inside, it's just as nice: the instruction and stick in the additional packaging
The stick is 4.9g - like a little sanitary wipe
ADVANTAGES (one) and DISADVANTAGES:
+
It's super convenient to carry, store, and apply.
- - - - - - -
The cap is tiny, about a third the size of a lipstick and fits easily in a kid's mouth.
After applying, it doesn't absorb, but instead turns into a greasy substance (the kid starts spinning around and wiping their cheeks on the people around them, leaving greasy stains behind).
The biggest drawback: IT DOESN'T WORK AT ALL. Period.
I'm repeating myself, but I have experience with using products for AD.
I understand that eczema can be treated not just with medication, but also with diet and routine.
So, my expectations for a supporting product are minimal: when the cheeks turn red, prevent inflammation, itching, and scratching.
By the way, the + and - in the header were chosen from existing ones, I didn't write them myself.
The authors write: it makes the situation worse.
Yes, it did! There's redness, itching, and as a result, scratching. It doesn't soothe!
Even regular E45 does a better job...
MY MISTAKES. Don't repeat them!
Stupidity.
I didn't read reviews before buying. On Irecommend, the product has a rating of 1-2 stars and the reviews are screaming: No way!
Honestly, I thought it was a new product and I'd be a superhero if I showed it off as a miracle cure for AD.
Frugality.
Yes, eczema creams are pricey. But I found a cream at a moderate price a month ago through extensive research - AVEENO DERMA INTENSIVE (review coming soon).
It's not a panacea, but it helps prevent an allergic reaction from turning into itching and scratching. It costs 670 rubles for 200ml.
ATOPIC CREAM-STICK - the product of the review costs 180 rubles for 4.9g, so its price per volume of a regular cream (200ml) is 7347 rubles. Seven thousand rubles!!!
Lack of foresight.
I didn't take the tested cream with me, and now I'm stuck in another city with a kid who's got a red face and is scratching all over the place ;((
Of course, I'll rush out and buy something else, but that's beside the point, and here's the result of this cream's 'work'.
xa0
FINAL VERDICT: I Don't Recommend the Atopic Soothing Cream 4.9 Penalty not even for a test run.

Updated 19.05.2018
In the end, the stick lasted for 1.5 weeks - just for daily use on my kid's cheeks.
This is pretty short.
While using it, with a diet, the state of my kid's cheeks improved, but I'd say the stick's contribution was minimal. So, I'll add a star (since there is some improvement), but I wouldn't recommend it - the downsides far outweigh any benefits.
But, it seems I've found a more effective product:KREM EXPRESS-POMOCH' D/SUKH/CHUVSTVIT/ATOPICHNOY KOZHI RCS 40ML I bought it on Aptekaru. I haven't written a review yet, but the results are really encouraging.
My review will be in my reviews on medications.
