Specifications
Hello everyone!
I've spent nearly three decades trying out various hair removal methods. Now, you can get rid of unwanted hair in a couple of hours at a salon, but there are numerous other options available - fast, painless, expensive, affordable, machine-based, and simple hand-held techniques. As women, we have to choose based on our budget and pain threshold.
I've had my fair share of experiences with hair removal, and I've learned that it's all about finding what works best for you. Some girls swear by waxing, while others prefer sugaring or epilators. I've tried them all, and I've got to say, each has its pros and cons.
Today's review is about a method that's almost dying out in our country - using an epilator to remove hair. I've had a Phillips epilator in the past, and after that, there were a ton of different models. Back then, features like backlighting and being able to use it in the shower weren't available. Nowadays, epilators have come a long way. There are tons of models with a ton of attachments for different purposes. But I was looking for a quick fix, since I'm not planning on doing hair removal at home on a regular basis.
Although Braun really impressed me, and that's why I decided to write this review. Maybe it'll be helpful to someone.

What's inside the box?
• The epilator itself
• A transparent packaging that prevents the device from moving around inside the box.
• A user manual and a warranty card
• A charger
• A cleaning brush (it's really convenient, I'm glad they included it!)
The epilator is small in size, and it's easy to hold, so your hand doesn't get tired.
In front, there's a pink-colored power button. The device is designed to work in three speed modes - something for everyone! I've got to say, the smart LED light is a game-changer. It makes it super easy to find those pesky, fine hairs. It's not essential, but it's a nice touch.
There's also a button on the back – it's for removing the head. I've taken it apart to show you.
The USB port is at the bottom – you don't need to plug it in during use. It's got a 40-minute battery life, which is pretty impressive.
The head itself – what you need to know? First off, the massage rollers. They look like a gimmick, but trust me, they make a huge difference in reducing the pain.
The charger is white, matching the device itself. It's easy to use – no fuss. It charges quickly, too.
Now, let's talk about using the epilator.
I know it sounds silly, but using the epilator is actually pretty easy. But that's just the technical side of things – we'll get to the 'ouch' factor later.
Just hold it at a 90-degree angle to your skin.
The instructions are on the box – and yes, you can use it in the shower. The most important tip for this epilator – don't be afraid to press it firmly against your skin. It makes a huge difference in how well it works, and it's less painful, too. Don't forget about those massage rollers – the closer to the skin, the better.
That smart LED light is a lifesaver for finding those fine hairs.
Now, let's talk about my experience with the epilator.
Mainly, I'm after a hair removal solution that lasts. Even if shaving is easy, it gets old after a while. I want to feel smooth for as long as possible. That's why I've been looking for ways to remove hair for longer. The most popular options are sugaring, waxing, and epilators.
Comparison with sugaring:
Sugaring stands out to me for one key advantage. It exfoliates the skin really well. With an epilator, you don't get that effect, so you'll need to exfoliate on your own. But, you don't have to mess with the wax paste, which is always a struggle for me.
Of course, if I could get a professional to do sugaring at a salon, I'd definitely choose that over using the epilator myself.
It's hard to choose between the two. If I had to pick between at-home sugaring and an epilator, I'd go with the latter. But, if I had the option to go to a salon, I'd choose sugaring.
Comparison with wax:
The type of wax can vary. The kind in cartridges is good for bigger areas like legs and thighs. The wax in granules is a better option for smaller areas. The hair is removed, but you'll have to deal with the hassle of heating the granules in a special device. It's also tough to find good quality granules - I've had my fair share of bad experiences. The cartridge also requires a wax heater and depilatory strips. It's a basic necessity for waxing, but it's a plus that the process is less painful and faster, especially with cartridges. The epilator, on the other hand, requires nothing but itself. If you're going on a trip or to the cottage, it's a lot more convenient not to have to carry around all the different waxing equipment.
I'd choose the epilator over a razor any day. The convenience and compactness of the device give it a big advantage.
Using the Braun epilator:
It lets you remove hair from any area of your skin.
I managed to remove hair from my hands, including the hair on my fingers, in just 10 minutes.
My underarms were a bit too painful, so I had to stop and start a few times. That took around 10 minutes as well.
I was able to remove hair from my chin area in just 2-3 minutes - it was a breeze.
My legs were a different story. It's a big area, and the epilator head isn't that big. Even with 28 tweezers, it took me almost half an hour to get it done.
It took me almost half an hour to get my legs done from the knees down. The before-and-after photos are on my other leg.
I have to admit, I was hesitant to use this epilator on sensitive areas like my bikini line and thighs. My pain threshold isn't super high, and I've had experiences with numbing sprays like lidocaine in the past. I might try it again with this epilator, though.
Now, about the downside that's keeping me from using this epilator long-term: ingrown hairs and inflammation. The red spots in the photo are exactly what I'm talking about - hair follicle trauma leading to inflammation. It's not a big deal yet, but regular use would only make it worse. I mean, who wants to deal with bumps and redness when you're trying to achieve smooth skin?
I've had similar issues with waxing, but at least with sugaring, my skin is always smooth.
So, to sum it up, here's how and when I plan to use this epilator:
1) For getting rid of unwanted hair in my armpits. Those pesky hairs grow back fast and are a real pain to deal with. This epilator makes quick work of them.
2) Since I have uneven hair growth, this epilator is a lifesaver. I can get rid of stray hairs in just a minute or two, and my skin is smooth again.
3) For when I'm traveling and can't get to a salon.
Ultimately, it's up to each person to decide how they want to remove hair from their body - or not at all. I'm all about mixing it up and finding what works best for me. Some girls swear by epilators, while others find them a total nightmare. I wish everyone could find their perfect hair removal solution!
