Disappointing Experience at Energia near Pavlovskoe Water Reservoir

summarizeEditor's Summary

I've visited Pavlovskoe Water Reservoir a few times, and I'm always stoked to explore the area. Unfortunately, my experience with Energia was a letdown - the service here just doesn't live up to the natural beauty of the surroundings. Since I'd visited other bases on Pavlovskoe beforehand, I had something to compare Energia to. Let's just say I was expecting a lot more. The booking process was a hassle, and the accommodations didn't quite meet my expectations. I was hoping for a more seamless experience, especially given the stunning location.

Booking
The booking process was a hassle. I had trouble getting through to them on the phone, and when they finally answered, it was the sales department, not the base itself. They couldn't give me any info about the rooms because they're handled elsewhere. I had to wait until I arrived to get the lowdown, which wasn't exactly what I wanted to hear.
The one good thing about booking here is that there's no prepayment required. You book and pay when you get there, which is a big plus compared to other places that always want a chunk of cash upfront.
Accommodation
We stayed in a Turkish-style suite in the luxury room. You can read all about its pros on their website, but I'll give you the cons. The room is spacious, but it feels like it was set up ages ago and hasn't been touched since. The couch is ancient, and when you try to unfold it, it just collapses. And good luck trying to get it to stay unfolded - it's a real struggle.
The bed isn't exactly comfy either, which is a problem when you're trying to get a good night's sleep. The bathroom has a weird smell that lingers in the room, which isn't exactly the most pleasant experience.
I'd say this luxury suite isn't worth the cash. It's just not that comfortable, and there are plenty of other places on Pavlovskoe that offer way more comfortable conditions.
Food
The food here is included in the price, and it's not bad. It's your standard three-meal deal, like what you'd find in a school cafeteria. Nothing too exciting, but it gets the job done.
Facilities
The territory is looking a bit worn out, to be honest. The kids' playground is in the same sorry state as the rooms. It's not exactly the most exciting place for kids to run around, which is a shame.
Of course, the nature around here is stunning, but that's not exactly relevant to the base itself. I mean, you can find beautiful scenery anywhere in Russia, but that doesn't necessarily mean the base is going to be any good.
There are some other cottages on site, but I don't have much to say about them. They seem okay, I guess, but I'm not exactly an expert on cottages.
The one plus here is the massive pool and sauna. That's something you don't often find in other places, and it's definitely a nice touch.
I think if you're getting a free trip, it's okay, but if you're paying out of pocket, you might want to look elsewhere. There are plenty of other bases on Pavlovskoe that offer way more comfortable conditions and a better overall experience.
As a matter of fact, I'd recommend checking out this alternative for a better experience.
What to Expect
No prepayment required Massive pool and sauna Stunning nature around the base Weird smell in the bathroom Uncomfortable couch and bed Outdated rooms and facilities
I've got to say, I was expecting a lot more from Energia. While it's not the worst place I've ever stayed, it's definitely not the best either. If you're looking for a comfortable and enjoyable experience, I'd recommend looking elsewhere.
