My Disappointing Experience with Eat My's Chocolate Cappuccino Lip Balm
Hello everyone! I'm guilty of having dry, chapped lips all the time. I stumbled upon this amazing lip balm from Eat My while browsing through social media platforms, and I just had to give it a try.
Here's my review of the Eat My 'Chocolate Cappuccino' lip balm.
Product Details:
Name: Eat My 'Chocolate Cappuccino' Lip Balm.
Price/Quantity: 201 rubles for 4.8 grams of product.
Where to buy: I purchased this from Wb, and you can also find it on similar marketplaces, as well as in-store at Zolotoe Yabloko.
Shelf life: 3 years (9 months after opening).
Ingredients:
Octyldodecanol, Prunus Amygdalus Dulcis (Sweet Almond) Seed Oil, Euphorbia Cerifera (Candelilla) Wax, Cocos Nucifera (Coconut) Seed Oil, Ricinus Communis (Castor) Seed Oil, Cera Alba, Microcrystalline Wax, Fragrance, Helianthus Annuus (Sunflower) Seed Wax, Simmondsia Chinensis (Jojoba) Seed Oil, Stevioside, Tocopheryl Acetate
From the manufacturer:
This lip balm with a 'Chocolate Cappuccino' scent gently moisturizes and nourishes your lips, keeping them soft and smooth throughout the day.
The secret recipe includes:
Almond oil to combat dryness and chappingCocoa butter to restore smoothness and elasticityCastor oil to soothe and softenJojoba oil to prevent crackingCandelilla wax to protect against wind and drynessPackaging and appearance:
This lip balm comes in a cardboard-plastic package, which provides excellent protection against opening.
Inside, you'll find the lip balm itself in a plastic package, along with paper stickers and a protective seal with perforations.
Sensory properties:
Smell – I'm not a fan, to be honest – it's a pungent, overpowering coffee-coconut-chocolate scent that's heavy on the chocolate and coconut oils, and it's ridiculously long-lasting – I can smell it every time the balm is on my lips.
If you're a fan of these kinds of scents, you'll likely love it, though – even I, a lover of similar fragrances, find it a bit too cloying.
The balm has a smooth, creamy texture when applied, and a decent, if not particularly impressive, hold in the tube (though it does start to melt if it gets too warm).
Color is a pale, translucent yellow.
My lips:
No injectables or extra moisturizing ingredients. My lips are super dry. They dry out quickly, crack, and all that jazz. They're a bit sensitive, too – I get irritation and redness from some balms. My experience with the product and impressions:
I tried to get along with this product, but after a month of using it, I have to say it just didn't work out for me.
Some things I noticed during use:
I was blown away by how economical this balm is, considering it's got a texture that's prone to melting. I've been using it for a month now, and I've probably only used up a third of the balm, maybe even less.
I'm also glad to report that it doesn't melt into a white stripe on my lips or get stuck in the corners of my mouth – as long as I remove all the previous balm residue before reapplying, that is. If I don't do that, there's a decent chance it might still form a white stripe, although not always.
Before/After (1-3 days of use):
Before/after after 3 days. Some alternative uses I tried for this balm:
I usually don't let a lip balm go to waste – I try to find other uses for it so I don't just throw my money away.
I've found it works okay for dry cuticles – I give it 3/5. I apply it thinly, usually at night, and it's dry by morning, but it doesn't leave a perfect finish (like after using a wax or rich hand cream). For cuticles (to protect from windburn) – 3/5. It doesn't offer great protection for my lips or cuticles, which is a shame. I like it for cold winter months, especially when I wear gloves or mittens. I apply it thinly to my cuticles and massage it in for a minute or so before putting on my gloves. It's not ideal without gloves, though – the protection typically lasts around 1-2 hours.Dry patches on my body (elbows/feet/etc.) – 0/5. After trying the Pure Paw Paw balm on my lips, I thought I'd give this a go as a multipurpose balm, but it was a letdown – no difference, just like when I used it on my lips.Quick verdict:
All in all, I wouldn't recommend this balm, despite its pros, because I just didn't like the scent and, most importantly, it didn't deliver on its promises of moisturizing and nourishing my lips.
Lots of different scents to choose from.A budget-friendly price point.A delicate shine. It doesn't leave a white residue or get stuck in the corners of my mouth. It does soften my lips slightly, but only while the balm is on.It's pretty economical.Cons:
The scent is way too strong and overpowering for me.It doesn't moisturize or nourish my lips.It tends to melt in the packaging. After regular use, it dries out my lip skin within 2-3 days.Alternative lip care products:
Check out my other reviews on lip care and cosmetics:
Beauty Bomb's Pika Chu Balm – didn't impress me.
The same shine oil from Vivienne Sabo – while it didn't quite live up to its moisturizing claims, it makes a great decorative product.
The famous Australian balm from Pure Paw Paw caused an allergic reaction on my lips, but it's shown itself to be a decent all-around balm.
Eveline's Rich Lip Oil is, hands down, the best lip oil I've tried.
