As someone who's not a fan of taking pills, especially antibiotics, I had a hysteroscopy procedure to remove a polyp from my uterus a few months ago.
Hysteroscopy, polyp removal in the uterus, histology... a detailed review from before and after. 👩First signs to look out for and when to rush to the doctor. Tears after the first ultrasound and how I felt like a zombie after the general anesthesia.
And, as it turned out, I also had endometritis.
Endometritis is inflammation of the uterine lining (endometrium).
The disease is classified as a type of inflammatory disease affecting the small pelvis organs and often occurs in conjunction with other conditions – inflammation of the ovaries, fallopian tubes, peritoneum, and pelvic cellulitis.
My gynecologist prescribed a course of antibiotics, including Metronidazole, Doxycycline Express, and Diclofenac suppositories for 10 days. That's a whole lot of meds (I get it now). I was in the middle of my treatment when I was in a serious car accident (DTP) and had to put everything on hold. I had to focus on treating my severe bruises, a damaged finger, and depression. Let's just say the end of 2025 and the beginning of 2026 were pretty eventful.
Now I'll tell you how it all went down, step by step.
Doxycycline ExpressThis is a domestically produced medication.
Doxycycline Express is a semi-synthetic antibiotic of the tetracycline group with a broad spectrum of action.
It comes in the form of dispersible tablets, each containing 100mg of the active ingredient, in packs of 10 or 20 units.
It has a bacteriostatic effect, inhibiting protein synthesis in microbial cells by interacting with the 30S subunit of the ribosome.
Tetracyclines are a group of broad-spectrum antibiotics that suppress the growth of gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria, mycoplasmas, rickettsiae, legionellae, and chlamydia.
Tetracyclines are produced by bacteria of the genus Streptomyces or synthesized semi-synthetically from biogenic raw materials.
In a nutshell, this is a powerful core antimicrobial agent as far as I understand it. It affects a wide range of inflammation, infections, and bacteria.

- Other diseases: frambesia, legionellosis, chlamydia of various localizations (including prostatitis and proctitis), rickettsiosis, Q fever, Rocky Mountain spotted fever, typhus (including spotted, tick-borne relapsing), Lyme disease (stage 1 - erythema migrans), tularemia, plague, actinomycosis, malaria; eye infections, in combination therapy - trachoma; leptospirosis, psittacosis, ornithosis, Siberian anthrax (including pulmonary form), bartonellosis, granulocytic ehrlichiosis; whooping cough, brucellosis, osteomyelitis; sepsis, subacute bacterial endocarditis, peritonitis;
- Prophylaxis of postoperative purulent complications: malaria caused by Plasmodium falciparum, during short trips (less than 4 months) to areas where chloroquine-resistant and/or pyrimethamine-sulfadoxine-resistant strains are prevalent.
Honestly, the expiration date is pretty hard to read. It'd be great if they highlighted it in a different color. People with poor vision might struggle to read it.
Doxycycline Express
That's what the blister packs with the tablets look like. I've already used some of them, as you can see on the photo.
Honestly, the color of these pills is pretty pale yellow. I didn't read the instructions, but when I started taking them, I followed my usual routine and washed them down with water. The first one went down okay, but the second one got stuck to the back of my tongue near the throat. It was a nightmare! The awful taste hit me right away. I spat it out and quickly washed it down with juice to get rid of the gross feeling.
I haven't felt this way while taking antibiotics in a long time. To make matters worse, I was feeling queasy. I don't know how I'm supposed to take these pills from here. I made the rookie mistake of taking doxycycline and metronidazole at the same time. I was nauseous for two hours. Apparently, you're supposed to wait at least an hour between doses. And don't take them on an empty stomach!
It's recommended to take the medication with food to prevent digestive issues.
To avoid esophagitis or stomach ulcers, take the medication with a lot of water and avoid taking it before bedtime.
Doxycycline Express After reading the instructions, I learned that you're supposed to dissolve the tablets in water first. Unfortunately, that didn't make things easier. The mixture tastes sweet but has a strong medicinal aftertaste. I just couldn't stomach it. I had to force myself to swallow it every time. I'd wash it down with a lot of water, sometimes juice or a drink like morse (which, by the way, is a great option). I just wanted to get rid of the pill taste as quickly as possible.
Throughout my treatment, I felt like my saliva had a bitter taste.
I made sure to eat well and take probiotic milk to help my body adjust. It's essential to space out your milk intake by two hours before or after taking the medication.
The yogurt from Talytsa with raspberry components is a real treat. It's creamy, smooth, and melts in your mouth.
That's my update. I've been taking it with some difficulty, but I'll share the results after my check-up in three days. I only recommend it if you really need it, and if there's a gentler alternative available, consider that instead.
