Dove Sensitive Skin Deodorant Falls Short of Expectations
Hello everyone!
I'm sharing my thoughts on the Dove Sensitive Skin Deodorant, and unfortunately, it's not living up to my expectations.
KEY DETAILS:
Price: Right now, the deodorant costs around 200 rubles.Where to buy: You can find it in online stores like Ozon, Wildberries, and Yandex Market.Country of origin: Russia.Volume: 150 ml.Shelf life: 3 years.Info from the manufacturer:Dove roll-on deodorant - Nourishing Powder, 150 ml provides excellent care for underarm skin with love and care for your body. This deodorant for women and girls over 14 protects against sweat and its consequences for up to 48 hours. The formula doesn't contain ethanol, so it won't dry out your skin, but rather make it soft and smooth. The spray is a quarter moisturizing cream, has a gentle texture, and gives a sense of comfort. The subtle floral scent with notes of freesia and peony effectively neutralizes unpleasant odors. This deodorant roll-on helps soothe irritated skin, reduce redness, and inflammation, even three days after shaving or epilation. The presence of sunflower seed oil makes it particularly gentle on your skin. Vitamins E and F in the formula help your skin recover faster.
PACKAGING:
The deodorant comes in a classic aluminum bottle with soft pink and white hues. It's tall and slim, taking up minimal space on your shelf and feeling comfortable in your hand. The front of the bottle has the brand name, product name, and other essential info.
I love how the back of the packaging gives you all the details you need at a glance: the ingredients, properties, manufacturer info, expiration date, storage instructions, volume, and it's all in multiple languages. The text is nice and large, easy to read.
At the bottom of the bottle, you'll see the production batch number and date - that's when you start counting down the expiration date. The numbers are nice and big, so they don't fade over time.
The lid here isn't screw-on, it's just a simple snap-on design. It opens easily, stays closed, and doesn't open by itself, so you can take the deodorant on the go without worrying.
Under the lid, you'll find the spray nozzle. It's silicone and super comfortable to press - your finger won't slip off. To be honest, I'm really impressed with the packaging - everything feels nice and intuitive.
THE SPRAY NOZZLE:
The sprayer here is a classic for this type of deodorant format. The button is comfortable, works smoothly, and doesn't jam. It presses down without too much effort, but not so easily that you might accidentally activate the deodorant spray mode in your pocket. When you press the button, you get a fine mist - I'd even say it's more like a stream. It's most comfortable to spray the deodorant from a distance of 15-20 centimeters, so it wraps the skin gently rather than hitting it with a stream.
The opening through which the product is dispensed doesn't get clogged with dried-up deodorant residue over time, and it still delivers the right amount.
COLOUR / CONSISTENCY:
The deodorant is transparent, with a liquid consistency that's slightly thicker than water.
After it's fully dried on the skin, there's no white residue, powder, or any other sign that the deodorant was there. If you accidentally touch the area with clothing where the deodorant has already fully dried, there won't be any residue on the fabric either.
AROMA:
Personally, the scent of this particular deodorant is a major minus for me. I'd describe it as a floral-powdery and extremely sweet scent. It's really not to everyone's taste. And it's also quite overpowering. In the summer, a smell that intense is suffocating, and even in colder weather, it's off-putting. What's more, it's not just noticeable through a t-shirt - you can even smell it through a thick sweater or fleece. Overall, it's a very overpowering scent.
One thing I'm really not a fan of is how strong this deodorant is. It lasts all day, and the scent is so potent that it even overpowers my perfume for the first few hours. By evening, it's still noticeable, even when I'm not right next to someone. For me, the intensity of the scent and the deodorant itself is a major drawback.
INGREDIENTS:
Isobutane, Aluminum Chlorohydrate, PPG-14 Butyl Ether, Cyclopentasiloxane, Propane, Parfum, Butane, Disteardimonium Hectorite, Helianthus Annuus Seed Oil, C12-15 Alkyl Benzoate, Octyldodecanol, BHT, Dimethiconol, Propylene Carbonate, Tocopheryl Acetate, Citric Acid, Alpha-Isomethyl Ionone, Benzyl Alcohol, Benzyl Salicylate, Citronellol, Coumarin, Geraniol, Limonene, Linalool.
According to EcoGolik, this deodorant contains a bunch of harsh ingredients. Not everyone might see this as a con, but I think it's worth mentioning.
MY REQUIREMENTS FOR A DEODORANT:
Effective protection against sweat and body odorNo stickiness; No stains on clothes;A pleasant, subtle scent; No drying out of the skin or irritation.MY EXPERIENCE WITH USING IT:
APPLICATION:I'm not a fan of deodorants in this format, but I do buy them from time to time for variety. Usually, I don't like how they feel when you spray them - it's like they're suffocating me. But this deodorant takes it to a whole new level. The sprayer dispenses a stream rather than a cloud, and it's pretty fine, but if you hold it too close to your skin, it's uncomfortable because the stream kind of hits your skin. I spray it from 15-20 cm away, and that does the trick. It's not super convenient, but it's not a deal-breaker.
I've already mentioned this earlier, but this deodorant has a ridiculously strong and pungent scent that's basically suffocating when you apply it. It's so overpowering that you'll need to ventilate the room after using it, or else it's just plain unpleasant to be in. I end up spraying it really quickly while holding my breath, and then getting out of the room ASAP to avoid feeling like I'm going to pass out. That's a major minus for me.
It also takes an eternity to dry – we're talking 10-15 minutes, easy. That's actually worse than the roll-ons, which usually dry faster. But there are some positives: once it's fully dry, it doesn't leave any residue, clumps, or stickiness behind. No weird textures or sensations to deal with.
PROTECTION FROM SWEAT AND ODOR:This deodorant's protection against sweat and smell is pretty mediocre. My underarms stay dry only on cooler days with minimal physical activity. But as soon as I step up the exercise or find myself in a hot room, the underarms just start to sweat profusely. It's basically useless for sports or hot weather.
And as for neutralizing body odor, forget about it. The deodorant's sweet, floral scent just combines with the stench of sweat to create something truly unpleasant. Imagine a sweet, flowery smell mixed with the smell of sweat. Not exactly pleasant.
The manufacturer claims 48 hours of protection, but let's be real – that's a gross exaggeration. In reality, I'd say it lasts around 6-7 hours before it becomes completely ineffective. It's basically not doing its job at all.
DOES IT STAIN CLOTHES?This deodorant doesn't leave any marks on my clothes when I put it on. Even if I accidentally touch a dry patch of deodorant to my shirt, there's no stain left behind.
But if you sweat, things get a lot worse. Dark clothes will leave white streaks, while light ones will leave yellow ones. And once they dry, these stains stay on the fabric.
On the bright side, they do come out with a stain remover – although it's a real hassle.
FEELI've got to say, this deodorant is comfortable to use. It's not sticky, it doesn't dry out my skin, and it doesn't cause any irritation, allergic reactions, or other unpleasant symptoms when I apply it. Plus, I don't get any unwanted sensations after shaving, even if I apply it right away.
USAGEThis deodorant has a standard usage rate for products of this type. With a 150ml bottle, I get about two months of use out of it – assuming I use it every day.
The packaging and sprayer are super convenient; It's budget-friendly;It's economical; It doesn't leave any stickiness, doesn't clump, and doesn't cause any irritation;CONS:
It doesn't reduce sweat at all;It doesn't neutralize body odor – it just mixes with it, creating something pretty unpleasant to smell; The scent is way too strong, overpowering my perfume and lingering all day;It leaves stains on my clothes when I sweat under my arms;It takes ages to dry;It fails to deliver on its 48-hour protection promise.VERDICT:
This deodorant is pretty much awful in every way, and I wouldn't recommend it to anyone. I'd give it one star if I could – but I'd actually give it zero if I had the option.
Thanks for reading my review! I hope it was helpful and interesting
