Editor's Summary

I'm still trying to process the traumatic experience my family and I went through with our beloved cat, Kuka, at the Doctor's Vet clinic on Skripnikov Street in Minneapolis. The clinic's subpar care and incompetence nearly cost my pet's life, and I'm sharing our story to warn fellow pet owners about the dangers of this clinic. With proper care, Kuka would still be with us today. My experience is a stark reminder of the importance of finding a trustworthy and skilled veterinarian. If you're a pet owner in Minneapolis, please take my warning seriously and avoid this clinic at all costs. I'm still trying to come to terms with what happened, but I hope our story can prevent others from going through the same heartache. It's every pet owner's worst nightmare to see their furry friend suffer, and I'm sharing our story in the hopes that it will serve as a warning to others. Hello.

My 10-year-old cat, Kuka, passed away a few days ago. She wasn't just a family member, she was a True companion. We went through a lot together, and she deserved so much better than what that awful clinic did to her.

It all started on Saturday morning when Kuka began vomiting. She stopped eating and drinking, and it looked like she was poisoned. Since she'd been through this before, we did our best to help her. We gave her water through a syringe, and then activated charcoal. The day went by, and Kuka lay quietly, sleeping. But she was in a normal state - she was playful, even a bit feisty when things weren't right. On Sunday morning, the vomiting stopped, but new symptoms appeared that really scared me. She started coughing, and her belly and paws were twitching. At 4 pm, we rushed her to the Doctor's Vet clinic on Skripnikov Street in a taxi. During the ride, it was clear Kuka was in a bad way - she was vomiting, and struggling to breathe.

At the clinic, we explained the situation to the 'doctor'. We told them about Kuka's strange symptoms, that we didn't know what it was, and that it could be anything from a foreign object to poisoning. And then imagine this - I'm frantic with worry about my suffering pet, trying to explain everything, and the 'doctor' barely looks up from their computer, just types away, and responds with a completely uninterested 'uh-huh'. Then they slowly get up from their chair, looking like they're bored out of their mind, and start examining Kuka, checking her mouth. They didn't even take her temperature. No blood test. They just sent her for an X-ray.

They subjected her to triple radiation. The X-ray showed that she had a blockage in her esophagus, and gas in her stomach. We were sent back to the consultation room to wait for the 'doctor', where we sat with a suffering Kuka for about 40 minutes. The 'doctor' was nowhere to be found. Eventually, they showed up and said they didn't know what was wrong with Kuka. 'It could be a polyp, or a foreign object, so you need to do an ultrasound, but our equipment is broken, and we need to do an endoscopy, but we don't have the equipment, so go to Podshipnikov Street, they have everything.' No help was offered. The whole time, Kuka was suffering in the transport. And before that, we had to wait 35 minutes for them to bring out the X-ray disc. They didn't bring it out until I went to the consultation room and asked them to hurry up, Kuka's in a bad state! Those monsters.

After 40 minutes, we were finally at that clinic on Podshipnikov Street. We left Skripnikov Street at 5 pm. We arrived at 7:15 pm. They were supposed to be expecting us, since they'd been called to let them know we were on our way. But at the reception, the girl gave me a poker face and said we'd have to wait in line. I told her, 'Ma'am, the cat's been without food for two days, she's in a bad state, she needs immediate help, what line?!' She rolled her eyes, made a phone call, and then disappeared. 20 minutes later, we finally got to see the second 'doctor'. This person was truly shocking. Zero interest in the animal's condition. Another poker face, complete indifference, like 'So, what's the deal with you?' By the way, this 'doctor-2' spoke in a strange, almost prison-like language.

I laid my cat down on the table and checked her mouth again. She was wheezing with pain. I looked at her teeth again, but still couldn't find anything. Oh, come on, I thought, let's do an ultrasound, but they're booked up. Ugh, my poor cat was in agony, and she had to wait. You should've seen her - she's usually so active, playful, and feisty, but she just lay there, not even trying to escape, she was in so much pain. And then we had to wait some more. My legs were starting to give out, and I was getting angry. It was terrifying. When you see your furry friend suffering, and they're not getting any help, and the doctor just turns her back on you and starts typing away on her computer, then talks to someone on the phone about something else... it's just heartbreaking.

Finally, it was time for the ultrasound. My cat was in a terrible state - she was hot, uncomfortable, and struggling to breathe. The ultrasound didn't show anything, but the tech was a genius - she shaved my cat's belly and asked me if I knew what that scar was from, even though I'd told her my cat was spayed.

We went back to the doctor's office, and she said we needed to do an endoscopy. She didn't explain how long it would take or what kind of medication they'd use, so I just assumed they'd give her something to calm her down. But no, they gave her a full-blown anesthetic. And to make matters worse, she had me sign a waiver saying she wasn't responsible if anything went wrong. Can you believe that? If a doctor has doubts about whether a procedure is safe for a patient, shouldn't they take a more cautious approach? Especially when the patient is elderly and already in a fragile state. But no, she just shrugged it off and told me to wait. My cat was already vomiting from the anesthesia, and I was getting more and more worried. If I'd been in my right mind, I would've never agreed to this. I just wanted to do everything I could to help my cat, and I trusted the doctor to know what she was doing. But looking back, it was a huge mistake.

After what felt like an eternity, the doctor finally came out with my cat, and she said they didn't find anything... except for inflammation in her esophagus. Except for? It's not like it's a minor issue - it's a serious problem that needs to be addressed. She said it was treatable, and I was relieved, but then she just dropped my cat off on a table and left me waiting some more. I was getting more and more anxious - what was taking so long? I asked the receptionist how long the procedure would take, and she said it was usually 1.5 to 2 hours. Oh my god, 2 hours is a long time for a cat to be under anesthesia, especially when she's already not doing well. It was a nightmare.

From that point on, I started to worry that my cat might not make it. My nerves were shot, and the waiting was killing me. I'll never forget the night my cat, Kuka, took a turn for the worse. When we got home, she started to slowly recover, trying to move around and even going to the bathroom with my help. I stayed up with her until 3 am, just watching her. But then things took a turn for the worse. She crawled under the bed and lay on her side, struggling to breathe. The vomiting and coughing started again. It was like she was still in the midst of the infection. I was terrified. I wondered if it was just the anesthesia from the vet visit that was still affecting her. And it was the middle of the night. I couldn't do anything to help her, and I couldn't take her anywhere. I just prayed that she'd make it through the night. But of course, that wasn't meant to be.

At 4 am, Kuka passed away, still struggling to breathe and convulsing. It was a heartbreaking sight.

I'm still trying to process the shock and pain of losing her. It's one thing to accept that she's gone, but it's another thing entirely to see her suffer like that. To see her waste away, waiting for help that never came. It's just too much to bear.

Sorry for the long review, but I want to warn others about the dangers of these clinics. If I had to summarize my complaints, they would be:

1) uncaring vets

2) incompetent vets who can't even diagnose a simple condition

3) basic care is not provided

4) only expensive, unnecessary procedures are offered

5) your pet's records can be easily erased from their system, leaving you with nothing to prove a problem existed

Take care of your pets. Avoid these clinics at all costs. They're just money-grabbing machines who don't care about your pets. In the best case, they'll just take your money for fake treatment. In the worst case, they'll kill your pet, even if it could have been saved. I hope you never have to go through what I did. If you have any questions, feel free to reach out.
