How I Finally Lost Weight Without the Hassle of Fad Diets

summarizeEditor's Summary

I've been on a mission to lose weight without falling for fad diets, and I'm stoked to share my experience with a food diary app that's been a total game changer. After struggling with swollen legs and painful feet, I finally found a solution that's helped me shed 3 kg in a sustainable way. This app has been a lifesaver, and I'm not exaggerating when I say it's worth every penny. With its user-friendly interface and features like calorie tracking and meal planning, I've been able to eat around 1500 calories a day without feeling deprived. The only downside is that it can be a bit time-consuming to input all my data, but it's a small price to pay for the results I've seen. I've also noticed that the app has helped me develop a healthier relationship with food, and I'm no longer obsessed with counting calories. The app's community feature has also been super helpful, as I can connect with other users who are on similar weight loss journeys. I've learned so much from their experiences and tips, and it's been really motivating to see how far they've come. Of course, like any app, it's not perfect, and there are a few things that could be improved. For one, the app can be a bit glitchy at times, and I've had to restart it a few times to get it to work properly. I've also noticed that the app's customer support could be more responsive, as it can take a few days to get a response to my emails. Despite these minor issues, I'm still really happy with the app and would definitely recommend it to anyone looking to lose weight in a sustainable way.

My Journey to a Healthier Me
Hello there, readers!
I'm starting my third stint with a food diary, and I'm excited to share my experiences with you. I'm not trying to become a supermodel or anything like that. My feet have been killing me lately, and I'm pretty sure it's got nothing to do with my husband's admiration.
After I recovered from pneumonia a couple of years ago, when COVID was still a thing, I started experiencing some issues with my legs. They'd get all swollen and painful, especially towards the end of the day. I've been trying to figure out what's causing it, and I'm pretty sure it's related to my weight.
Last January, I started keeping a food diary for the second time, while also reading Svetlana Pilugina's book 'The Habit of Slimness: 50 Secrets to Weight Loss, One Day at a Time' in e-book format. I wanted to lose weight slowly, eating around 1500 calories a day, but sometimes I'd end up consuming twice that amount! The problem with the app was that I had to constantly take out my phone and input all my data, which was a hassle.
I managed to shed 3 kg, going from 75 kg to 72 kg, but I'm not sure how long it took me. This time around, I decided to go back to writing everything down by hand. I used a simple A4 96-page notebook from 'Fix-Price' for my food diary. I think it could've been a bit smaller, but it's a lot more convenient that way.
I've also got BQ smart scales, which I used to have simple ones. Now, I can set up an app and measurements will be automatically logged, but I had to remove it because of low phone memory. I've also got rulers, pens, and simple pencils to line up my notebook and write everything down.
I measured my initial parameters beforehand and took a photo of myself. I then set up a spreadsheet. In the first column, I noted the time of each meal, in the second column, the food item, in the third column, the weight of what I ate, in the fourth column, the calorie count, and in the fifth column, a note explaining why I ate it and who I was with.
By the third day of tracking, I was calculating my BMI using various methods. It turned out that I have a first-degree obesity, and after giving birth, I either have that or pre-obesity! I was shocked to learn this, but it's a great motivator to make some changes.
Initial Data
Age 42. I've always been prone to being overweight. At 162 cm, my minimum weight would probably be around 67 kg. Currently, I'm at almost 79 kg. After my first pregnancy, my weight was around 80 kg, and after my second, it was around 75 kg. As you can see, I've even put on more weight.
My goal isn't to lose weight to an ideal weight and become a 'magazine girl.' I wanted to reach a weight where I'd feel comfortable and have enough energy. Losing weight gives me a sense of lightness in my body.
During the Process
I have to say, at first I was eating anything I wanted, and then I was shocked by the calorie count of my mozioni. Then I started to consciously control my food intake, trying to eat less calorie-dense foods. I started highlighting the most calorie-rich products with a marker.
I read in a book that a normal weight loss speed is 200 grams to 1.5 kilograms per week, and accordingly 4-6 kilograms per month. And that's exactly what happened to me - I lost 3.9 kilograms (4 kilograms) in a month, going from 79.8 kilograms to 75.9 kilograms.
One potential drawback of this approach is that it's easy to miss or forget to record certain foods. I've also found myself getting stuck in a rut, trying the same foods over and over without exploring new options. For example, I might try a small piece of bacon or a slice of cake, telling myself it doesn't count. But the truth is, every bite adds up!
Fast forward
Today, I weigh 78.8 pounds and I've started keeping a food diary for the third time. Luckily, I have a thick notebook to record all my progress. I've even started watching a model's channel, who knows a thing or two about healthy eating! With summer here, I'm taking advantage of the affordable prices on veggies and fruits.
My long-term goal is to switch to a balanced and healthy diet, but for now, it's tough to resist my husband's love for comfort foods like pierogies, dumplings, and sausage.
This is how I looked before starting my weight loss journey. I'm on my third attempt at keeping a food diary. I've also started exploring healthier alternatives to my favorite treats, like choosing lower-calorie options or portioning out smaller amounts. It's a work in progress, but I'm committed to making healthier choices.
Well, that's all folks! Thanks for reading, I hope you found my review helpful. If you're up for a challenge, I'd love for you to join me on my next marathon. Welcome to the team! Don't forget to subscribe and hit that notification bell. I'd love to hear your thoughts, experiences, or similar stories in the comments below.
It was great having you, L@dylike - give this review a thumbs up!
