I'll be the first to admit, my experience with Dermedic has been a wild ride. I wasn't a fan of their face creams, but their after-sun body creams are top-notch. The texture and effect are spot on, and I've been using them for a while now. However, the price isn't exactly budget-friendly, and the scent is a bit too strong for my liking.
I'd give Dermedic a solid 3 out of 5. It's not about the quality, but more about my personal preferences.
My first purchase from Dermedic was this very cream - a moisturizing and matte-finish one. I was looking for a replacement for my old favorite, U'ryazh, which had become too pricey and wasn't doing the job anymore. Dermedic seemed like a good option at the time, given its affordable price and richer formula.
To be honest, I wasn't too concerned about moisturizing at the time, but rather about getting a matte finish without relying on foundation. I wanted my skin to look good on its own, without any extra help.
Of course, I knew that my skin, being on the older side, needed some extra TLC. So, this cream seemed like the perfect solution.
Or so I thought.
I ended up buying two more creams on sale, including a night cream, hoping to switch to Dermedic as my go-to brand.
Dermedic Normacne Face CreamAnd then I started using it. From the very first application, I realized I'd made a mistake with the matte finish.
Dermedic Normacne Face CreamIngredients:aqua, persea gratissima oil, tapioca starch, hydrogenated polydecene, cyclopentasiloxane, caprylic/capric triglyceride, c30-40 alkyl ceteareth dimethicone/crosspolymer, glycerin, methylpropanediol, stearyl alcohol, isocetyl stearate, niacinamide, sodium hyaluronate, glyceryl stearate, stearic acid, cetearyl glucoside, polyacrylamide, c13-14 isoparaffin, laureth-7, dimethiconol, propanediol, hordeum vulgare extract, tocopheryl acetate, scutellaria baicalensis root extract, butylene glycol, vitis vinifera fruit extract, ethyl linoleate, hexylresorcinol, dipotassium glycyrrhizate, aminobutyric acid, peg-8, ascorbyl palmitate, ascorbic acid, citric acid, disodium edta, dmdm hydantoin, iodopropynyl butylcarbamate, phenoxyethanol, ethylhexylglycerin, potassium sorbate, sodium benzoate, parfum
The formula looks decent at first, with cornstarch and cyclomethicone, a type of volatile silicone, so you'd expect some decent moisturizing and a smooth texture. Unfortunately, I don't get any kind of matte finish, even after the first few minutes - it's just regular old skin that's not shiny, but not matte either. After about 10 minutes, it starts to get shiny.
The texture's not exactly lightweight or gel-like, just a regular old cream. Too bad, because as soon as my skin starts to get oily under this cream, forget about using any kind of oil-absorbing sheets - it's like my skin is producing oil nonstop until I wash it off. But, yeah, my skin does seem to be absorbing moisture like crazy. Is that even a good thing?
My pores are getting bigger, and my blackheads are becoming more visible. And it's not like I had a ton of them to begin with.
Dermedic Normacne CreamI'm usually not a fan of creams with silicones, and this one's got 'em, so make sure you wash it off thoroughly. It's not going to work well under makeup, either - it's just too oily. I guess it's just not for me, because it doesn't even give me a decent matte finish, despite the formula. I mean, it's supposed to, right?
One good thing is that it doesn't have any overpowering scent (which, it turns out, is actually a big deal for me!), and it's super economical - I mean, I'm not really using it that much, but it's nice to know I won't be wasting it. The pump dispenser is also pretty convenient:
Dermedic Normacne CreamThe compact bottle is nice and portable, too - I could take it to the gym, for example.
Dermedic Normacne CreamThe manufacturer's claims are:
reduces the number of bacteria that cause acnedisrupts bacterial communication and breaks down the bacterial biofilmlimits sebum secretion and reduces enlarged poresnon-comedogenic and hypoallergenicYeah, they're definitely using some big words)
I've been using this Dermedic Normacne cream for a while now, and my skin's just gotten worse. I've got more pores, more blackheads, and even more acne. The sebum production's gone through the roof. Honestly, I'm pretty skeptical about this product... I guess it just doesn't agree with my skin. What's weird is that I've tried other products from this brand before, and they've all had the same effect on me.
Dermedic Normacne CreamMy verdict? I wouldn't recommend it. The formula's just too heavy, and it's promised a lot but delivered nothing but a weird, unpleasant sensation on my skin. To be honest, it's actually made my skin look worse and feel worse, too. Unfortunately, I'm not going to give it a good review just because of the promises it made.
