Our Week in Paradise at Cybele Sunset Hotel

summarizeEditor's Summary

We spent a week in Fukuoka island's southern part in December 2024, and it turned out to be a fantastic holiday. Cybele Sunset Hotel in Sunset Town was our home base for the trip. Its location was spot on - just a short walk to the beach and the cable car. But here's the catch: the free tickets to the cable car and Lover's Bridge, which were a major selling point for us, now require a two-night minimum stay. We were bummed to learn this policy change, but we still managed to make the most of our stay. The hotel's proximity to the beach and the nearby amenities made up for the initial disappointment.

Our Week in Paradise at Cybele Sunset Hotel
We spent a week in Fukuoka island's southern part in December 2024, and it turned out to be a fantastic holiday. After a week in the Grand World area at Vinholidays Fiesta, we wanted to explore the south and see how the weather was. Our initial plan was to stay in the Kheem Beach area, visit the water park, and check out Sunset Town. So, we booked Cybele Sunset Hotel, which is right in Sunset Town. At the time, they were offering free tickets to the cable car and the 'Lover's Bridge.'
However, you now need to book for at least two nights to get the tickets for two people. We were a bit disappointed to find out that this policy had changed, but we still managed to enjoy our stay.
The hotel's location was spot on - it's just a short stroll over the Lover's Bridge, and it takes only about five minutes to walk to the Colosseum with the cable car. In the opposite direction, there's a night market, which is about the same distance. I was really impressed with how easy it was to get around. The hotel has four floors, with three rooms on each floor. The rooms start from the second floor. We got a room on the second floor, right above the entrance. There weren't many people around, so it wasn't a problem. The room was almost brand new, spacious, and the furniture and appliances were new too. They gave us a free bottle of water, tea, coffee, and toothbrushes in the room. That was a nice touch.
Watching the fireworks from the rooftop was a truly magical experience. The view of the surrounding area was breathtaking, and we felt like we were on top of the world.
We were pretty stoked to find out that breakfast was included, even though we didn't book it. The café is on the second floor above the hotel, run by the same people. The breakfast was decent, with a variety of options, so we weren't left hungry.
We booked for three nights, and that was just the right amount of time for us. The small hotel format was perfect for a short stay. Compared to Vinholidays Fiesta, our experience at Cybele was slightly lower, probably because our expectations were high based on online reviews.
There were some tiny insects in the room, like ants. It wasn't a big deal, but it was annoying. We didn't expect to see any insects in a hotel room, but it was a minor issue.
Wi-Fi worked great in the room and throughout the hotel, so we could connect our MI Box to the TV and watch series or YouTube like we do at home.
Considering the cable car tickets, nice breakfast, and friendly staff, I wouldn't give it a low rating. It's a great option for a short stay and getting to know the southern part of the island.
We wouldn't go back ourselves, but we recommended it to our friends, and they liked it too.
Overall, our stay at Cybele Sunset Hotel was a pleasant experience, and we would recommend it to anyone looking for a short and sweet getaway in Fukuoka island's southern part.
We would definitely consider staying here again in the future, especially if they continue to improve their services and amenities.
Thanks for reading our review, and we hope it helps you plan your next trip to Fukuoka island!
