Hello everyone!
I'm like many others, and I often find myself scratching my head trying to figure out what to get as a gift.
I've come across the Cuva service in social media for a while now.
Cuva is essentially a voucher where the person can choose any hotel or cabin from a curated selection.
I've already gifted two such vouchers.
The first voucher I ordered was for my sister, and the second one was for my husband.
Since my husband didn't have a choice of who to go with, I decided to put the voucher to the test myself.
Website design:
When I visited the Cuva website:
The website immediately showcases curated selections of hotels, making it easy to browse and see which hotels are included in each selection.
Both times I purchased a voucher for the 'Unconventional Weekends' selection.
They also have more premium selections:
And a more budget-friendly option with Russian cities, allowing you to purchase a voucher for a specific amount.
Personally, I'm not too fond of the voucher option for a specific amount.
After you've chosen the right collection, you get information about that collection:You can choose the number of nights:
I opted for a 2-night stay.Next up is the information about how the voucher works in pictures:
You can gift the voucher in different packaging:
In the chosen collection, which in this case is 'Unconventional Weekends', you can immediately see which hotels/cottages are included in the collection:
You can view the hotels in a list, or open up a map:
When you click on a marker, it opens up the chosen hotel:
I dug deeper into the hotel's details and found everything I needed.
The website had all the necessary information.
Buying a certificate on the website:
After browsing the website, I moved on to the checkout process and could choose the certificate packaging:
The certificate can be given as a gift in a gift box, a branded envelope, or digitally.
Gift box options:
The gift box is a box that comes with a branded envelope.
When placing the order, you can also choose the box filler:I opted for the certificate in a branded envelope, and I had to pay an extra 190 rubles for it.When ordering, you can choose the color of the envelope:
The first time I ordered a red-colored certificate:
The second time I ordered a green-colored certificate, which matched my cat's eye color.)
Next, you need to fill in your details on the website and can write a wish for the card.I chose the delivery method and location, and I ordered the certificate twice, both times opting for the boxberry pickup.
The delivery cost for the envelope to Noginsk, Moscow Region, was 300 rubles.
You can pay for the order when you receive it or online immediately.
Since I'm subscribed to their social media, they often post various promo codes with discounts.
Both times I ordered with a promo code, and they gave me a 500-ruble discount.
Promo codes change frequently, so you need to check their social media.
They often send promo codes in newsletters.
Cost:
In total, it cost me 13,390 rubles:
I paid 11,380 rubles for the 'Unusual Weekends' gift certificate, which had a 500-ruble discount code applied;the official envelope cost 190 rubles;shipping was 300 rubles. At the time of writing, the gift certificate costs 11,380 rubles, and there's a discount for International Women's Day on March 8.
There are usually good discounts for different holidays.
I paid for the gift certificate online on the website:
After placing the order, I got a message saying everything went smoothly.
Within 30 minutes of placing the order, a manager called to confirm the order.
Then, they sent a photo of the gift certificate via WhatsApp to confirm the text on the card.
The gift certificate came in a sealed postal envelope.
Inside the envelope, there was a bubble wrap.
Inside the envelope was a certificate, already sealed with a wax stamp and a tiger-themed card with the order number on the back.
The stamp on the envelopes:
Presenting certificates:
I gave the certificate to my sister, and I inserted it into a bouquet of flowers and decorated it with a butterfly.
The second certificate I gave to my husband.
The main gift for my husband was a car pump, and I hid the certificate in the box. When my husband unwrapped the gift, he thought the way the warranty card was wrapped was so beautifully done, he set it aside. Then he picked it up, opened it, and was totally blown away.
The only downside of this gift was the hassle of choosing a hotel. I'd bought a collection with around 100 hotels to choose from, and my husband took ages to decide, saying it was super tough because there were so many cool options, he wanted to stay in almost every single one.
I didn't get involved in the decision-making process, I wanted him to pick the hotel. The 'Unconventional Weekends' collection wasn't exactly hotels, it was more like tiny cottages.
He ended up choosing the Barnhouse 'Koti' in the village of Tovano, Tver region.
I'd already written about it here.
Booking a hotel with a gift certificate was a breeze:First, you get a certificate with a code and a QR code. Then, you scan the QR code and enter the code on the website.Next, you're presented with a list of hotels, and you can choose the one you like and your preferred dates. One thing to note is that you can't book a hotel on holidays, but weekends are fair game – my husband booked a hotel for Friday to Sunday. The only catch is that you don't immediately see if the hotel or cabin is available for your dates, but after booking, a representative from Cuva will call you to confirm. It's a bit more involved than booking directly on services like Yandex Travel, but overall, it's quick and easy – just be prepared to wait for the call.Once you book, Cuva contacts the hotel to confirm the reservation. You'll then receive an email confirmation of your booking.I didn't encounter any issues with the booking process.Everything went smoothly. My husband really loved the gift, saying it was super cool! After our stay in the cabin, we even got asked how our vacation was!
The gift certificate is valid for 2 years.
I'd be happy to receive a gift like this myself!Gift certificates really do give you a sense of freedom. When life gets busy and you can't seem to get away, having a gift certificate is like a breath of fresh air - you can finally take a break and unwind.
The website has a ton of different gift options, from budget-friendly to splurge-worthy. Plus, they often have sales, discounts, and promo codes. And in social media, they're always running contests - I haven't won anything yet, but I'm keeping my fingers crossed!
The CUVA gift certificate:
