Hello everyone!

I wanted to share my experience with Credit Europe Bank, especially after the recent events that showed their positive attitude and customer support. A big shoutout goes to the employee at the Bratislava branch who went above and beyond.

Let's start from the beginning.

We first encountered Credit Europe Bank when we bought a new car at a dealership. We took out a 3-year loan, and this bank offered the lowest interest rate, despite not having our credit card. In contrast, UniCredit Bank, which my husband had a salary card with for the past 10 years, quoted a rate that was an order of magnitude higher. Needless to say, we made our decision based on that.

We applied for the car loan directly at the dealership. The bank manager explained all the payments, including the mandatory life insurance. They even created a repayment schedule that matched our own calculations. In total, we paid around 115,000 rubles extra over three years (+life insurance) for a 600,000 ruble car loan, which was an amazing deal. If it weren't for the mandatory life insurance, it would have been even better. However, we realized that at the time, no bank offered loans without this insurance, or if they did, it was at a higher interest rate, so we'd have ended up with the same amount.

After three years, we repaid the loan in equal installments according to the payment schedule, and the contract automatically closed. What's more, the bank issued my husband a debit card so he could deposit money into the loan account at the bank's ATM. That was super convenient.

Since we deposited money into the account from both our salaries and advances in equal parts, we also earned interest on the remaining balance on the card – a small thing, but nice. So, the bank is customer-oriented.

We didn't have any late payments, so I won't comment on fines and penalties.

It was this experience with the bank that led me to decide to put our savings in USD in the bank before our trip. The amount wasn't huge, but you never know what might happen at home while we're away. At least something would be left.

I deposited the money in late August 2021. It was supposed to stay there for a year.

Given the events from February 22 and on, my husband and I decided that keeping dollars in the bank wasn't the best idea, to put it mildly, and realized we needed to withdraw them ASAP.

True, this bright idea hit us on Thursday, the 24th.

I called the bank and they told me they'd ordered the currency for pickup by 3 working days, on Tuesday, March 1st. Everything was going according to the bank's agreement so far.

But then, on Monday evening, February 28th, between 6 and 8 pm, the bank calls me and says they don't have the currency, nothing will arrive on Tuesday, and they won't be able to hand it over.

After what happened with Sovcombank in November 2021 (I wrote a detailed review about it with photos, check it out if you're interested), I was totally freaked out.

I couldn't find the number they called from on the bank's website. I decided to check if it was really the bank calling. I called the numbers listed on the website, but they seemed to stop working after 6 pm, as I wasn't connected to anyone.

Things just got worse.

In the end, my husband and I rushed to the bank at opening time, and by 9 am we were there first.

The bank's staff confirmed that yes, they did call me. They didn't have the currency, and unfortunately, they couldn't do anything about it. That was to be expected, but they did reassure me that the call wasn't a scam.

Then, a woman approached us – I think she was a senior manager. Luckily, there weren't many people in the bank, and we were able to talk to her calmly. She was extremely polite, said she understood the situation, would take our situation into account, and would call us back as soon as she had any information.

I was so stressed out that I didn't even remember her name.

In short, I was able to withdraw my deposit money on March 2nd, as the bank staff had kept their promise and called me back. Everything went smoothly.

My takeaways: the bank is very customer-oriented. Despite the unusual situation, I got my deposit back without losing a single cent. Yes, I experienced stress, but I'm sure it would have been the same in any other bank – I've read reviews where people wrote about similar situations with currency in different banks.

I want to thank the Credit Europe Bank staff in the Bratislava branch for their integrity and for doing their job so well. If you read my review about Sovcombank, you know that this isn't always the case.

I wish her all the best in her career and hope she doesn't lose the qualities that I'm so grateful for right now.

I've got to say, one thing that really stood out to me was the lack of outreach from this bank. Over the past three years, I've had an auto loan with them and a savings account since August, and not once have I received a call or offer for any additional services. That's a far cry from what I've experienced with City Bank or Sberbank, which have been bombarding me with calls almost every week until I finally had a word with them (and let's just say I wasn't exactly polite).
