I just got back from my vacation, and I have to say, flying with China Eastern was a real breeze. I flew from Kazan to Shanghai on MU 5066/MU 5065 (8 hours and 9 hours 20 minutes respectively), and then from Shanghai to Cebu on MU 5023/MU 5024 (4 hours 25 minutes and 4 hours 50 minutes).

I've got a ton of impressions from my trip, but let's start with the flights. China Eastern really impressed me - all flights were on time, which is a huge time-saver and a major mood-booster.

A Long-Haul Flight on MU 5066/MU 5065.

The planes, despite being older models, held up surprisingly well. The seats were arranged 2-4-2, and the cabin was spotless. There was one wonky seat that creaked a bit, but it still reclined. Legroom was decent, and the bathroom was always tidy, with a steward who kept it clean.

The flight attendants were super attentive, and the service was top-notch.

Layover in Shanghai.

We had a 12-hour layover on the way out, and we got to explore the city. It was a breeze - just follow the signs to the city exit and go through passport control. You'll need to fill out a blue-colored migration card with the usual questions (name, nationality, flight number, etc.). We exchanged some money at the airport, but the exchange rate wasn't great, so it's better to bring yuan with you.

We took the Maglev train (seven minutes) and the metro (twenty minutes) to get to Shanghai. We spent some time exploring the city, trying some food, and were blown away by the sights.

We took the metro back to the airport (about an hour's journey) and passed through passport control without any issues. You just need to present your tickets with your passport. One thing to note is that the airport is huge, so make sure to arrive at least two hours before your flight.
