My Disappointing Experience with Calzedonia in Russia - Avoid This Brand!

It's been around 7-8 years since I fell in love with the Calzedonia brand for their amazing knee-highs. Although their prices in Russia were higher than in the EU, the quality was always top-notch – and it was always worth the extra cost! My go-to Calzedonia knee-highs for years have been their fine-knit tights in three colors: beige, black, and brown.

beige;black;brown;Important note: I have to say, Calzedonia's fine-knit never had that annoying runny effect that some other brands are prone to. And even when it did happen, their tights were still super durable – they were basically indestructible! I mean, I've never seen them lose their shape.

I also loved their winter knee-highs, specifically the 50-80 den ones that would often go on sale for 2+2 deals and the like. My friends and I would always buy two pairs at a time because, let's be real, four pairs for one person is just too much – and these tights were so good, we knew we'd be wearing them for years to come!

I was starting to think Calzedonia's rating in Russia had finally hit rock bottom...

My first major disappointment was the same winter tights on sale... I'd finally worn out my old ones, so I went to buy a new pair to last me another couple of seasons. But... I was in for a disappointment... Those Calzedonia 50 den brown tights I bought had already started to fray on my big toe after just a couple of weeks. With my personal hygiene being spot on and regular pedicures, the problem clearly lay with the drastic drop in quality from Calzedonia. This was winter, so I'd long since chucked those tights and they didn't even make it to this review. But I'll show you the rest of it in pictures!

Next on my list of disappointments was my favorite summer Calzedonia tights. They're also started to rip apart at an alarming rate. I've started buying tights in other brands and they've been better than Calzedonia's. To be honest, tights aren't really in style anymore, and I don't wear them as much as I used to. But for some reason, I still had a pair of tights from Calzedonia that I bought back in 2022 in Russia. I'll show you the quality and all the defects up close.

The mesh looks small, but it stretches really well. Caldonia tights mesh reviews with photos. Overall, the mesh looks pretty appealing ;) But... if you wear the Caldonia mesh tights at least once with boots, they kind of bunch up in the area where they touch. THIS IS THE RUBBER BAND AREA – and there isn't one! It's not very comfortable... And the Caldonia mesh has started to run really quickly too... Now, let's get to the strategic reserves I've got left, which I picked up in the EU - a pair of warm tights from Calzedonia, some milk-colored stockings, and two pairs of fancy socks that were gifted to me.

The tights with great silicone reinforcement on the lace rubber are really secure, even on slender legs, and don't slip down. True, the toe area isn't reinforced... so my fingers are still the weak spot.

Peach-Colored Toeless Socks with Lurex from Calf-length Hosiery. I'm surprised, but they actually have reinforcement in the toe area! They're comfortable to wear, although even after hand-washing, the color faded a bit. They looked more vibrant and nice before. I like wearing them with loafers and short leather pants.

I mean, there's no distinct separation between the toes and the heel, so they just sit weirdly on my feet. Not comfortable at all.

Now, let's get to the point. My experience with Calzedonia Russia was a major red flag for me. Last year, their ads featured these gorgeous legs in striped tights, and I really wanted to get a pair! They were priced at 1500 rubles a pair, but if you bought two pairs at once, it was 1100 or 1200 rubles. I took the salesperson's advice and bought two pairs.

I had no intention of buying mesh tights, especially not for over 1000 bucks! Mesh just isn't my thing. It's the only pattern I don't like, and I try to avoid it in all forms. I already wasn't a fan of the pushy sales staff at Calzedonia, but after this experience with the wrong tights - I'm totally disillusioned with their service. By the way, swapping the tights out in the store was impossible - the packaging looked almost identical. Here they are.

the tights completely fell apart on me within the first day, which was pretty ironic since I was planning to wear them to work on New Year's Eve. I thought it would be a great opportunity to 'dressed up' in these tights with a subtle pattern of little green beans. But they literally broke in two places - on the toes... they just frayed on both feet. And at the back, since there are no 'shorts' to speak of... my nails are always kept short, just in case.

But... they didn't even make it through one wash (I wash them after every wear)... I deliberately washed them in a torn state for this review to show you exactly what you're getting in Calzedonia Russia for 1500 rubles, which is already 1699 rubles after the price hike... They lasted for 1-2 wears! Terrible quality! I had to ask my coworkers for nail polish at work to stop the rapidly spreading tear... It was really disappointing, because they looked great from the outside - not too thin, matte finish, and the seam at the back was amazing. They even have shorts with a push-up effect. These shorts are really great, they help shape my figure and lift my butt, but they're incredibly dense compared to the tights themselves. It's a strange contrast in density. I was worried I'd rip the thin part where it meets the dense correcting part when I put it on tightly.

The push-up effect on these tights is insane - I love how they make my legs look! I was a bit skeptical about the stitching, but it's actually really well done - no loose threads or anything! The rounded cutouts are so flattering - they really help to lift and separate my bum! I've been wearing these tights nonstop since I got them - they're just that comfortable! The colors are so vibrant and true to life - I love how they look in person! I've been getting so many compliments on these tights - people love the unique design! The quality is top-notch - I can tell I'll be getting a lot of wear out of these! As I mentioned earlier, Calzedonia's brand positioning is pretty spot on
