My Obsession with Byredo's La Tulipe Perfume

I have to say, my love affair with Byredo's perfumes started with the crystal-clear scent of Blanche, which stole my heart. I was so impressed that I decided to keep exploring the brand and bought two more bottles - La Tulipe and Gypsy Water. Many people associate La Tulipe with spring, but I disagree. It's a beautiful, clean floral composition that's perfect for any time of year, especially in the fall when we're missing bright colors, flowers, and rich scents.

La Tulipe's fragrance is inspired by the tulip itself - a symbol of rebirth and spring. It's a concentrated essence of spring, memories of a cool spring morning in the garden, of cool dew on fiery tulips.

La Tulipe was my second Byredo purchase, and I've since tried out all the perfumes from the brand that are available in our corner. I've only fallen in love with three of them so far. The others seem too complex and heavy, although they're undoubtedly great! But I'm absolutely obsessed with fresh, floral scents without overpowering, heavy compositions. Fragrances like Blanche and La Tulipe are so delicate and incredibly feminine.

The perfume comes in a gorgeous, white, box-shaped case.

The design looks amazing, but it comes with a hefty price tag. The ribbed surface with the recognizable pattern and minimalist vibe add to the aesthetic, just like the combination of white and black. Inside the standard packaging - the actual bottle and a box with a card that includes a message from the manufacturer. The box is made of thick cardboard and can be used to store small items. The bottle itself is classic Byredo design - minimalist and sleek. The transparent thick glass has a white label on it, and that's it - nothing extra, just what's inside. Byredo La Tulipe reviews The magnetic cap is made of sturdy black plastic, and underneath it, there's a brand engraving. The atomizer itself also features the iconic 'B' logo. The atomizer works perfectly, and I'm loving the design so far.But hey, it's a niche product, and it does get the job done. It releases the fragrance in a fine, misty cloud.

At the bottom of the bottle, you'll find all the key information about the perfume. And let's be real, to tell if a Byredo perfume is the real deal, just take a peek at the base of the atomizer through the bottom of the bottle. On the original, you should see two distinctive 'black rings'.

On the fakes, it's just a metal base made from cheaper materials.

Scents

La Tulipe falls into the floral category – and it's not your typical sweet, cloying flowers. It's fresh, incredibly clean, and has a noticeable tanginess. The scent is beautiful, especially on a cool day.

The clean floral composition is unmistakable, reminiscent of freshly cut white tulips combined with the freshness of spring flower stems and greenery. The start is fantastic! At its heart the tulip takes center stage and reveals its full complexity amidst a delicate freesia and a sharp vetiver note. The freshness of light green still lingers, but the scent becomes more floral, infused with a woody note. Base is incredibly sensual and alluring. The composition settles into a soothing floral sound combined with sharp, cool aldehydes, fading into the scent of cleanliness and fresh laundry like Blanche, but a bit lighter. It all sounds calm, unobtrusive, luxurious, without cloying sweetness or irritating sugariness. The scent sits close to the skin.

Trail is barely perceptible, light, but very beautiful. It's in the trail that I sense that warm woody note that harmoniously completes the composition.

Impression

I fell in love with La Tulipe from the very first notes! It's a beautiful combination of transparent flowers, white tulips, and a tangy punch – utterly captivating. The aldehydes add a sense of freshness and sharpness without being overpowering, instead blending beautifully with the flowers to give it crystal clarity. The powderiness here is delicate, barely perceptible, but stunningly beautiful, like the air after a storm or high altitude.

I've got to say, the scent is super feminine, delicate, and universal. It's perfect for most girls, regardless of age. I'm positive it'll leave few people indifferent. A light, complementary scent like this is ideal for everyday wear. It won't overpower those around you with its trail and will get you loads of compliments. I've had girls approach me on the street multiple times and ask, 'What's that amazing smell?' La Tulipe is an incredibly complementary scent. I've gotten so many compliments with it, almost as many as I did with Libre YSL. Even guys have given me positive feedback about it. In my opinion, the tulip really shines in cooler weather – early spring or fall. In the summer, though, it can get a bit powdery and overwhelming in the heat. Byredo La Tulipe Sillage is great – it lasts till evening on the skin. It gradually fades and leaves a floral-aldehyde dry down. On clothes and hair, it lasts until you wash them. For light, fresh scents, the longevity is pretty good.

Verdict

Byredo La Tulipe is an incredible floral scent! It's my favorite among floral perfumes. It's not exactly about tulips in the classical sense, but it's all about a bouquet of white, freshly cut flowers, with tulips taking center stage and paired with a hint of grassy notes after a storm! It's one of my favorites in my collection.
