I've been on a perfume kick lately, and I'm excited to share my thoughts on some amazing Russian brands. Today, I'm reviewing Brocard's Perpetuum, a scent that's been haunting me for weeks.
This is one of those scents that I'd give high marks to if it weren't for one major flaw - the packaging leaves a bit to be desired.
Brocard PerpetuumBRAND: BrocardNAME: PerpetuumSIZE: 50ml and 100mlWHERE TO BUY: Elise, WB, Ozon, RandewooPRICE: from 500 rubles for 50ml, from 900 rubles for 100mlFirst things first – let's talk about the packaging. It's a decent-quality box with a sticker and Russian-language information.
The Perpetuum scents are easy to distinguish – the men's and women's versions have different colors and labeling.
Brocard PerpetuumThe bottle, on the other hand, is a real winner. The glass quality is top-notch, and the design is classy, not some cheap knockoff. One thing that really stands out about Perpetuum is the packaging – it's not just some flashy, over-the-top design; it's actually well thought out.
Brocard PerpetuumUnder the cap, there's a little ball that rolls around on its axis – it's like a tiny little charm. I think it's a really nice touch, and it adds to the overall feel of the product.
Brocard PerpetuumIt's all very minimalist, and I think that's part of the charm. The spritzer works like a charm, and it's got a nice, even flow. The amount of product it dispenses is just right – not too little, not too much.
Brocard PerpetuumThe bottom of the bottle is pretty unique, too. Perpetuum Brocard is a fragrance for women, and it falls into the floral fruit category.
The top notes are Pineapple, Watermelon, Apple, and Mandarin; the middle notes are Jasmine, Lily of the valley, Heliotrope, and Violet leaf; the base notes are Musk, Vanilla, and Amber.
I've got to say, the Jasmine, Apple, and Pineapple notes are really standing out to me. I'm a huge fan of pineapple and apple in perfumes – it's definitely my thing.
Brocard PerpetuumPerpetuum is like a breath of fresh air. It's the essence of being somewhere with a mountain view behind you, a forest, and you're inhaling that crisp air like it's oxygen.
It's like a cool, crisp morning, or a night stroll by the sea, where the Mediterranean air mixes all the subtle scents of flowers and sea salt, creating something truly unforgettable. It's like a refreshing walk on a summer day, where the air is light and carefree, and you feel like you're walking on air. It's like a moment of pure bliss, where everything feels right with the world, and you're grateful for the simple things in life.
Brocard PerpetuumThis is something special to me. It's my go-to, my favorite, my everything.
Brocard PerpetuumI've said it before, and I'll say it again - I'm obsessed with clean scents. There are different types of clean scents, if you ask me.
Shampoo scents. Like, just out of the shower, feeling fresh and clean.Cleansing scents. More powdery, like Dove or Nivea.Ambrox scents. Molecule 02, for example - it's like a breath of fresh mountain air, with a hint of woodiness. It's sensual, intimate, and alluring.Powdery scents. White shirts, Byredo Blance, Moschino Toy 2, and Clean. Some people call them 'deodorant sprays', but I think they're so much more than that.Perpetuum is a blend of ambrox and powdery scents, in my opinion.
The scent is amazing. To my nose, it's just as good as Byredo Blanche, which is now ridiculously expensive.
Perpetuum has a certain ozone quality to it. In short, the scent is not flat. Yes, it doesn't change much, but it's not stuck on one note either.
Brocard PerpetuumI was drawn to the bottle at first, and after testing it a few times, I fell in love with the scent. My nose kept going back to the wrist. I bought it. I've been struggling to get away from it for the past three weeks.
Longevity
This is the pain, I'm afraid. Perpetuum's longevity is surprisingly low. Two to three hours at most on the skin. On clothes, unfortunately, it doesn't last through a wash, maybe a day or two, then it's gone.
Disappointment, ugh
Brocard PerpetuumHowever, the sillage is great for the first little while after application. I've tested it on a staircase, and it's definitely noticeable.
Of course, for the price, you can spray yourself silly. That does take the edge off my disappointment a bit. Atomizers to the rescue.
Conclusion
Brocard hit the mark, and Perpetuum has stolen my heart. This little white gem is a treasure.
Brocard PerpetuumI wanted to get a 1ml bottle (so I could spray myself silly, ahem), but all that was available was 50ml. Oh well, next time. Because there will definitely be a next time.
I should probably deduct a star for longevity, but I just can't bring myself to do it. The scent is that good, and when you factor in the price, I'm willing to overlook the longevity and give it five stars, just like I will next time.
If you're like me and you love complex scents that evoke freshness, and you're looking for something light for the summer, then this is your go-to.
If you're not a fan of powdery, refreshing compositions and prefer something sweet instead, then this isn't for you.
Would I recommend it? Absolutely.
Brocard PerpetuumP.S. I've also got to say that the men's version is pretty great. I'll have to share more about that.
