Proven Winter Tires for the Win

summarizeEditor's Summary

I've been using the Bridgestone Blizzak DM-V2 winter tires for three winters now, and I gotta say, they're a total game changer. The complex driving season is no match for these tires, and I'm not just talking about the snow. They're solid in the rain, too. I was a bit skeptical at first, but after three winters, I'm convinced that these tires are worth every penny. The price may seem steep, but trust me, they're worth it. I've put them through their paces in all sorts of conditions, from icy roads to flooded highways, and they've performed flawlessly every time. The ride is smooth, the handling is responsive, and the traction is incredible. I've even driven in some pretty hairy conditions, and these tires have never let me down. If you're in the market for a new set of winter tires, do yourself a favor and give the Bridgestone Blizzak DM-V2s a try.

Proven Winter Tires for the Win
Winter's on its way, and it's time to gear up for the complex driving season ahead. Although it's still sunny outside, I'm swapping to winter tires - and you should too, trust me.
I'm sharing my honest review of the Bridgestone Blizzak DM-V2 winter tire, which I've had the chance to put to the test over three winter seasons.
So, let's dive in and see how they stack up.
WHERE I BOUGHT IT AND HOW MUCH I PAID.
I bought a set of winter tires along with a new car at the Toyota Center dealership. They gave me a discount on the car, but I had to spend the saved money on their additional options - including the tires.
I didn't choose the winter tires myself, but I've since learned that I got the Bridgestone Blizzak DM-V2, which is an improved version of the DM-V3 model.
The price was 43,000 rubles for the set of four tires in 2021. Fast forward to today, and similar tires are now going for 17,000 rubles each, which is 68,000 for a full set of four.
That's a pretty significant price increase over the past four years.
THE TIRES' FEATURES.
Now that I've had a chance to put the Bridgestone Blizzak DM-V2 winter tires to the test, I can see why they're designed for this type of driving. The tread is pretty soft, which allows for extra traction in icy conditions.
Of course, I wouldn't recommend using them in the summer - it'll just increase fuel consumption and wear down the tires faster.
The tread pattern on the Blizzak DM-V2 is pretty aggressive, which is perfect for winter driving. The outer tread is designed to grip the road, with a clear, rectangular cut that helps to channel water and slush away from the tire's surface.
Inside, the tread is divided into triangles, each with its own set of tiny, zig-zagging grooves. This creates a solid foundation for gripping ice and snow.
HOW THE TIRES HANDLE IN WINTER DRIVING.
So, I've had the chance to put the Blizzak DM-V2 to the test over the course of three winter seasons, and I've got some pretty strong opinions on how they perform.
One thing I've noticed is that they're noticeably quieter than my summer tires when switching from one to the other.
Another thing I've noticed is that they're softer than my previous winter tires from Toyo, which makes for a smoother ride.
Performance on snow is a bit tough for me to assess, given the climate where I live. We get snow only a few times a year, and it rarely covers the entire area.
However, I can say that the Bridgestone Blizzak DM-V2 tires perform like they should on icy roads, with no skids.
LONGEVITY AND MAINTENANCE.
I've also noticed that the tires maintain the correct pressure for a long time, without ever letting air out or escaping.
This is a big plus in my book, especially since I'm not frugal when it comes to tire replacement.
Longevity is another area where the Bridgestone Blizzak DM-V2 excels. I've clocked 40,000 kilometers over three years, with half of that on the Bridgestone Blizzak tires.
The tread wear is almost non-existent, with only a thin layer of road dust on the tires.
This is a testament to the tire's durability, although I do acknowledge the importance of proper maintenance.
MY VERDICT.
I'm thoroughly impressed with the Bridgestone Blizzak DM-V2 snow tires this winter. They're a dream to drive on, easy to repair, and won't wear out on the road surface.
Plus, the surface doesn't crack easily - I'm really happy with how they're performing.
So, without hesitation, I'm giving these tires a solid thumbs-up and writing: I highly recommend them.
