Boro Plus Hydrating Lip Balm for Dry, Chapped Lips

I've tried a bunch of lip balms, but Boro Plus really delivers. It's like a drink of water for your lips - long-lasting hydration and actual repair for dry, cracked skin. Perfect for when your lips need a little TLC, and it's gentle enough for daily use.

Boroplus Lip Balm Review: A Comprehensive Care for Your Lips

As a woman, I've gone through countless lip balms, glosses, balms, and lip moisturizers in my lifetime. It's a question that's both interesting and not-so-frivolous. Any woman will tell you it's a lot, although the exact number depends on your makeup habits and personal grooming preferences. For me, it's mainly lip balm and lip balm, because I hate the feeling of dry lips and I'm always using something at home. It's only logical that I'm more concerned with the quality rather than the quantity. So, over the years, I've been paying closer attention to the ingredients in lip care products and opting for organic cosmetics whenever possible.

I've been familiar with the Boroplus brand since childhood: those thick creams in green or burgundy tubes were always stocked in my mom's makeup bag and associated with something really beneficial and essential. The existence of this lip care product in their lineup was a real discovery for me, and buying it was one of the best cosmetic purchases I've made in recent years – and at a very affordable price.

The Boroplus lip balm is designed for those who need more than basic lip care. The 4-in-1 comprehensive care includes nourishing, restoring, relieving discomfort, and protecting. Plus, the balm doesn't contain any artificial fragrances and is made from natural oils and medicinal herbs, so it gently takes care of your lips. Thanks to its unique natural composition, the Boroplus lip balm has become a unique product that prevents cracking and peeling while restoring and nourishing your lips.

The packaging is simple and convenient - a white cardboard box with an image of the balm and, logically, its main components. All this, plus the 'no parabens' note on a green background in the top left corner, subtly suggests a natural origin and, let's be honest, is pretty appealing. The essential information for the consumer fits on the back of the packaging.

Inside the box, we find the balm in a small, compact tub made of soft white plastic. The back of the tub has the main necessary information, although it's in English. That's not a problem, since what really matters when using it is the expiration date, which is clearly printed on the seam and easily readable without any foreign language skills. The cardboard packaging is pointless to keep after checking out the manufacturer's promises (and taking photos for this review, of course).

The nozzle on the tub is slanted, making it easy to apply the balm directly to your lips - like drawing on lipstick. It's very convenient, and nice too, thanks to the tub's smooth plastic.

The balm is pretty thick. It comes out of the tube in a white, semi-transparent cylinder. It doesn't run, and it keeps its texture even in hot weather. It's also very rich, which makes it spread evenly across my lips.

The balm has no flavor or strong aroma. If I sniff really hard, I can barely detect some faint, cosmetic notes, but there's no distinct taste. I was expecting some sort of waxy flavor, but this balm is completely neutral, which surprised me. If you're not a fan of fruity flavors like strawberry, blueberry, or raspberry, this balm is perfect for you.

The moisturizing balm contains natural oils and medicinal herbs that provide comprehensive and gentle care for your lips. The manufacturer emphasizes that the product is plant-based. But is that really the case? I've gotta say, it's no surprise the main ingredients in this lip balm are liquid paraffin and micro-crystalline wax, which are byproducts of oil refining, sparking some debate about their safety. There are also some synthetic additives in the mix, acting as preservatives.

I'm not really surprised, considering the product's shelf life and affordable price point. At least I didn't find any artificial fragrances, dyes, or sulfates, which is a plus. However, I wouldn't exactly call this product all-natural. The seller could've been more transparent about the ingredients, focusing on the natural components instead of making false claims.

But, in all fairness, this balm does contain a good amount of plant-based active ingredients that can benefit your skin: basil, olive oil, rapeseed oil, wheat germ oil, wine seed oil, chamomile, and aloe vera. So, the balm's composition was a bit ambiguous. But before freaking out about possible disapproval from eco-guru sites or the like, let's remember that there are still acceptable norms for consuming certain substances – and, spoiler alert, I'm pretty sure I'm not overdoing it due to the super economical formula. For me, the results clearly outweigh any potential risks.

I've got a problem: my lips dry out fast when I'm not wearing lip balm, so I always carry a travel-sized lip balm with me. I'm hoping the Boroplus balm will give me protection from drying out and nourishment – so my lip skin stays moisturized for as long as possible and doesn't need another coat of balm just an hour later.

I mainly use this stuff for at-home care. Occasionally, I apply it in the evenings after removing my day makeup. I also apply it to my lips before bed.

I have to say, the balm is pretty rich, but it glides on smoothly like a dream, leaving no residue. It has a neutral flavor and scent, which is a win-win for people who hate strong fragrances or have sensitive skin. The lack of harsh chemicals reduces the risk of an allergic reaction.

Thanks to its high oil content, you can get a perfect, even layer with just a tiny amount. This means scantily applied – I've been using it twice a day for months, and one tube still lasts me around eight months. Talk about value for money!

When applied to the lips, it forms a transparent, shiny layer that's perfect for when you want to add some moisture without looking like you're wearing lip balm. Just be sure to use a tiny amount and let it soak in.

However, this means the balm takes a while to absorb, thanks to its rich texture and density. But the instant gratification is worth it: after applying, I feel an instant relief from dryness and tightness. No discomfort whatsoever!

And the best part? It doesn't leave a heavy, greasy feel on the lips. The sensation is almost surreal – it's like wearing nothing at all.

It stays on my lips for a good while. For instance, after a cup of tea, it doesn't need to be reapplied - my lips feel perfectly comfortable, but a full meal might be a different story. I always use balm before bed, and by morning, I don't experience any dryness, even though I toss and turn a hundred times during the night and probably get some balm on my pillowcase.

And that's another plus: it doesn't leave any marks on my clothes, unless I deliberately get balm on them, and even that comes off easily in the wash.

Here's a photo of my lips before, immediately after applying the balm, and an hour later.

I'm really happy with the results. My lips look more polished, and fine lines are slightly smoothed out.

And I think this has a cumulative effect, because, honestly, I don't remember the last time my lips started flaking.

The balm holds up to temperature changes like a champ: sometimes, besides using it at home, I apply it as a protectant before an evening stroll or a trip to the store (just make sure the shine doesn't extend beyond the lip line, or it'll look like I didn't clean my mouth after eating something greasy), and I can say it's comfortable both in summer and winter. In the heat, it doesn't melt, and in the cold, it doesn't dry out or pull on my lip skin.

Overall, I'm really pleased with my experience. All my expectations were met.

It's reassuring to know that there are still affordable yet effective and easy-to-use skincare products out there. I've made the Boroplus Plus lip balm my go-to companion for taking care of my dry, chapped lips.

I'll admit it's not perfect due to the presence of a few not-so-natural ingredients, but it does a great job of moisturizing and restoring my lip skin, protecting it from drying out for a long time, and has a neutral scent and taste that doesn't leave greasy stains on my clothes or bedding.

Plus, I'd like to think that the company behind this product, with its long history and reputation in many countries, uses high-quality ingredients that have undergone thorough cleaning and meet safety standards for consumer health. The lack of artificial fragrances and flavors in the balm is a good sign.

For me, the pros far outweigh the cons. Although I'd be justified in deducting a star for the less-than-natural ingredients.

I'd definitely recommend this balm, and I'll be buying it again.

Take care of yourself!

And be amazing!
