Trading Booze for a New Routine: My Unexpected Encounter with Bonne Nouvelle Grapefruit Wine
Hey everyone!
I'll be the first to admit that I've had my fair share of ups and downs when it comes to drinking. There have been periods where I was completely sober for years, and others where I'd have a glass of wine, a bottle of beer, or a couple of shots every night. I know it's not exactly the healthiest habit, but I believe that everyone deserves to be understood and respected for their choices.
My latest stint of sobriety was actually triggered by a switch to a vegan lifestyle, and let's just say I had my reasons for that. On the other hand, my previous intense drinking phase was due to an extremely demanding job that I was barely holding on to.
Fast forward to two months ago, when I quit my job and, coincidentally, decided to quit drinking as well. I know it's not exactly the healthiest connection, but hey, it worked for me!
Even now, I still crave the taste of freedom that comes with drinking. The feeling of letting go and forgetting my worries is tempting, to say the least.
Maybe when I've been sober for a longer period and have some interesting thoughts and discoveries to share, I'll write a review about giving up booze. Until then, I'll focus on sharing my experience with Bonne Nouvelle Grapefruit, the delicious rose-petal semi-sweet wine.
This wine has a beautiful, vibrant pink color with orange undertones. The aroma is full of rose-grapefruit notes. The taste is a perfect balance of freshness and sweetness. The finish is refreshing, with hints of citrus zest and a subtle bitterness. It's a great aperitif, and it pairs well with grilled meats and citrus-based dishes, or even with red fish dishes.

I'm not a wine connoisseur, so the grape varieties mean nothing to me. France is just a country, and the brand? Yeah, that's not really my thing either.
Back in my drinking days, I preferred Georgian wines, thanks to a friend's recommendation. But why I preferred them, I never really asked or cared about.
I took this photo a month ago, when I first tried this wine. I wanted to find the full ingredients list, but I couldn't find it anywhere. I guess I'll just have to check the label on the photo instead.
So, let's get to the label already!
One thing I love about this wine bottle is the screw-top lid – it's super easy to open and close, but I wish it had that satisfying 'pop' sound when you first open it, you know, like when there's a slight cork seal.
Now, let's talk about the taste and color.
When it comes to color, this wine reminds me of a standard rosé – it's a lovely, soft pinkish-orange hue.
As for the taste, it's definitely not as bold as your average wine – it's more like a flat bottle that's been left open for a few days, and the alcohol has pretty much dissipated.
It's a bit tart, like a diluted grape juice, but there's something unique about it. I found myself enjoying it, questioning it, and analyzing it all at the same time.
I even caught myself wondering, 'Why am I drinking this?' and 'What's the point of it all?' but at the same time, I just couldn't stop sipping it!
So, in the end, I ended up finishing the whole bottle without getting even a slight buzz, which was pretty interesting. I did enjoy it, though, and I think it's a great option if you're looking for a unique drinking experience.
However, I'm not sure if I'd be willing to shell out almost 500 rubles for it again – I think I'd rather spend my money on a few boxes of juice, including some grapefruit-flavored ones that remind me of red wine, and get a lot more bang for my buck.
That being said, I do think this wine would be a great option if you're looking to cut back on booze but still want something that tastes like wine – you know, the grape flavor without the kick.
By the way, when I was researching the ingredients, I came across a review that said this wine tastes like a Baltic Zero with a grapefruit twist. Yeah, I can see what they mean – there's definitely a citrusy vibe going on, but it's still a wine, not a beer!
So, to sum it up, this wine is definitely unique and enjoyable, but I'm not sure if I'd buy it again. If you're feeling adventurous, though, and want to try something new, I'd say go for it!
Thanks for reading, and until next time!
