Hello everyone!
I recently visited Istanbul and had the chance to check out the stunning Blue Mosque, also known as Sultanahmet. I've got a crazy story to share with you that I'll never forget.
We arrived at the mosque super early, before it opened. So, we spent about 15 minutes walking around, peeking through the open windows. Pro tip: go early if you want to avoid the crowds!
As the doors started opening around the perimeter, we asked to enter the inner courtyard. It was super quiet, just a few of us there. Perfect for some Instagram-worthy shots!
The mosque itself is breathtakingly beautiful from the outside.
Check out the intricate designs on the arches and ceiling.
We were so caught up in the moment, taking photos and running around, that we forgot about our stuff. I was frantically searching for my bag, which had all our money and passports in it. I was freaking out, let me tell you!
Luckily, we found it in the courtyard where we had taken some photos. But, man, that was a close call!
After that, we joined the queue to get in. You have to remove your shoes, so we brought some socks along. And, oh boy, the interior is stunning.
The intricate tile work and mosaics on the walls are stunning. The stone carvings and ornate details are beautifully combined in an eastern style. The Blue Mosque is one of the largest in Turkey and it's an absolute must-see. When you step inside, you can really feel the history and grandeur.
It's a very touristy spot, but it's completely free to visit, so you can't go wrong. To get a good look at the stained glass windows, I had to take some photos with the light adjusted beforehand, but it was worth it to see the intricate details.
And of course, I had to take some close-up shots of the details.
After that, we headed out to the street and took a stroll around the mosque from a park that's between the two mosques. The little fountain in the park was a nice touch.
And here's a shot of Aya Sofia from the same spot. I'd definitely recommend checking out the Blue Mosque before it starts charging $30 per person to get in, like many of Istanbul's top attractions.
