The Carpet Cleaning Debacle: What Went Wrong and What I Learned

summarizeEditor's Summary

I'm still fuming about my recent experience with BIANCA's carpet cleaning service. They totally ripped me off, overcharging me by a whopping 19,000 rubles for a job that was supposed to cost 760 rubles per square meter. And to make matters worse, their staff damaged my carpet during the cleaning process. I was shocked and disappointed by their lack of transparency and poor customer service. The whole experience was a total disaster, and I learned a valuable lesson about being super cautious when choosing a carpet cleaning service. I wish I'd done my research better before hiring them, but now I'm paying the price – literally.

Hello!
I needed to clean my carpets, and my mom's small oval-shaped carpets were due for a good cleaning too. We've always taken our carpets to a trusted place, but this time we made a mistake by choosing BIANCA. The fact that their staff would come to pick up the carpets and clean them at our place was a major draw. It's always a pain to carry heavy carpets back and forth, so that was a big plus.
We checked the prices for carpet cleaning on their website, and the price for 1 square meter of machine-made carpet was 760 rubles. But when the BIANCA staff arrived, they quoted me a whopping 19,000 rubles for cleaning my large carpet! I was shocked.
Prices from the dry cleaning websiteRemember that scene from our favorite movie where something gets transformed into something completely different?
With a simple gesture, pants turn into elegant shorts!
It turned out that since my carpet didn't have a label (I have no idea where it went, maybe it fell off at the previous dry cleaner), it meant my carpet was hand-made! And cleaning it would cost 3,200 rubles per square meter. I've been cleaning it like a machine-made carpet my whole life, at the usual price in other dry cleaners. But BIANCA couldn't just leave it like that, could they? They'd already come to our place, and 19,000 rubles isn't something you can just leave on the street.
Anyway, at that moment, I realized I didn't like this dry cleaner, and I didn't want to clean anything there anymore. But they'd already arrived, so I had to give them a small rug, or I'd have to pay for the call-out. It's like getting a free ride, but you still have to pay to get off.
Anyway, I handed over the small bedside rug with stains, and my mom gave them her oval-shaped rug with fringe.
And then there were the details. Both of our rugs are oval-shaped, and my mom's has fringe. So, how does BIANCA measure the size of a rug? Of course, they use the square method - they multiply the length and width of the rug. So, they charge us 3,200 rubles per square meter for the air around the rug (basically, they're charging us for the rug's shape). And my mom's special fringe (unfortunately, it's starting to come undone over time, so it's less and less visible) - they charge us 3,200 for that too, just like it's a hand-made rug?
Fringes for 3200I got my rugs back, and honestly, they weren't in great shape. My rug had these crushed stripes, like they'd been left by a machine (maybe a vacuum?).
This is how it looks now, but when I first got it back, the stripes were even deeperSo, it's pretty clear that a handmade rug needs to be cleaned with care, especially when you're paying 3,200 rubles for it.
Let's just say I've cleaned my rug a lot, and I've never seen anything like this.
They must have chewed on it in Bianca's place or something? There were also some holes here and there, like the rug had been eaten by a moth.
My mom's rug had an even worse experience. If I can sort of pretend my rug's stripes aren't there, my mom's rug lost its color and that beautiful silk sheen. It just doesn't feel like silk anymore, and the color's all wrong. Now my mom needs to buy new rugs.
I've included photos of the rugs from BIANCA and another dry cleaner (I took it to them right after this happened so I could compare). The other dry cleaner cleaned it way cheaper, and they even did a big rug for a reasonable price (remember, the one they said was 19,000?).
As you can see, the pile after BIANCA is ruined. It's dull, and even in the photo, you can see how bad the quality is. And it's lost that silkiness.
Nearby:
So, what's next?
We left them a claim, and guess what? They showed up and picked up the rugs - mom gave them two to see how to clean them properly, and my striped rug.
They ended up returning my rug in better shape, I guess they did something to it. The stripes are still there, but they're less noticeable now.
Now Bianca's always with usSo, the rug's just sitting there, reminding me of BIANCA every day. BIANCA's always with us now!
They didn't touch mom's rug since she wouldn't let them. And what does that say about BIANCA? They didn't mess with the cleaning tech, but they're not refunding the money.
And to make matters worse, they didn't give us the discount for being a repeat customer when they initially took the money for the under-clean rug. Now they're offering to refund those dollars as a discount on our next order! Yeah, right - we'd have to mess something else up for them to give us our money back.
But no, we're not going back, and I wouldn't recommend them to you either!
Take care, and stick with good cleaners who don't ruin your stuff!

cancelCons

  • •They totally overcharged me, which was completely unacceptable. I mean, 19,000 rubles is a lot of money, and I didn't expect to pay that much for a carpet cleaning service. Their staff damaged my carpet during the cleaning process, which was a total disaster. I was really disappointed by their lack of transparency and poor customer service. They failed to recognize their mistakes and took no responsibility for the damage, which was really frustrating. Their website has no clear information about their pricing and services, which made it hard for me to know what I was getting into. And, to top it all off, they don't offer any discounts or promotions, which is a major drawback.
