Bausch & Lomb SofLens 59 Contact Lenses

I've tried my fair share of contact lenses, but these SofLens 59s from Bausch & Lomb are a total game-changer. They're ridiculously comfy and designed to work "with your eyes, not against them. No more dry, irritated eyes or constant squinting. Just a full day of feeling fresh and healthy. Plus, they're a great value for money - you get comfort and clarity without breaking the bank. And the best part? They're super easy to use and maintain, making them perfect for busy lives.

My Not-So-Great Experience with Bausch&Lomb SofLens 59 Clear Lenses

summarizeEditor's Summary

I've been wearing contact lenses for over 10 years, so I thought I knew what to expect from Bausch&Lomb SofLens 59 Clear Lenses. Unfortunately, these lenses didn't quite live up to my standards. As someone who's had contact lenses for a decade, my eyes have gotten used to having something foreign in them, so they're not as sensitive as they used to be. But I still try to buy good quality lenses because my eyesight is really important to me. I was hoping for better from Bausch&Lomb, given my positive experience with their one-day lenses in the past. I've tried these lenses for a month, and here's the lowdown.

I was familiar with the Bausch&Lomb brand to some extent, having gotten free eye exams in Moscow a few times where they gave me these lenses as a gift. The one-day lenses I got were pretty good quality, so I wasn't too worried about buying lenses from this manufacturer for a month's supply.
There are a few different replacement schedules for contact lenses, and I prefer to get the ones that are replaced every month. These lenses have the optimal thickness of hydrogel, and by the time a month is up, they haven't started to get all worn out like the ones that last for six months. Daily lenses are way too expensive for me and are really uncomfortable to take out.
I prefer to wear colored lenses, but unfortunately, they didn't have the right prescription for me, so I ended up getting these Bausch&Lomb SofLens 59 clear lenses.
A little background info.
✔️ I bought these lenses from my favorite online store, Ochkarik (that's the one, not the physical store).
✔️ The price was 790 rubles for 6 blister packs.
✔️ Number of blister packs is 3 pairs.
✔️ Color of the lenses is clear.
✔️ Wearing time for one pair is a month.
✔️ Packaging is 6 hydrogel lenses.
✔️ Country of origin is Ireland.
Appearance.
These days, it's pretty rare to see lenses sold in blister packs. These lenses come in a small, compact cardboard box that fits easily in the palm of your hand.
The design is pretty simple and unremarkable – I've seen a similar box before.
The standout feature of these lenses is the Hyafilcon B hydrogel, which does a much better job of keeping my eyes moist and preventing the white part of the lens from getting stuck to it.
On the side, you'll find the country of origin and the number of lenses: my pair had 6.
The packaging on top has the diopter you need and the product's expiration date. One of the best things about these lenses is that they come in fractional diopters, up to -6 and +6, which can be tough to find.
Inside the box, I found three neatly folded packages. For 790 rubles, you get 6 lenses - that's incredibly cheap, considering a single lens usually costs around 400 rubles.
I really like the shape of the lenses - they're easy to store and won't get lost at home. Each package folds into the next like a puzzle.
The packaging shows the diopter, expiration date, and curvature. My only complaint is that there's only one curvature option, 8.6, which might not suit everyone.
The blister packaging is airtight, and none of the packages leaked. There's enough solution inside to keep the lenses hydrated.
I have to say, I didn't notice any difference with the unique shape of this lens. It looks like, well, a lens to me.
The lens is completely transparent, with no cuts or inclusions.
My experience wearing these lenses.I don't rinse the lens after the cleaning solution, I just put it straight in my eye. The solution was comfortable and didn't irritate my mucous membrane. The lens felt like it was a part of my eye.
From a distance, you can't even see the lens in my eye. It blends in perfectly.
However, if you take a closer look, you can notice the rim.
But you have to be really close to notice it. People around me don't seem to notice anything out of the ordinary when we're talking.
The lenses are completely colorless and don't enhance the color of my eyes, unfortunately.
The first three hours after I opened the blister pack, I didn't feel the lens in my eye at all. But then I started to feel dryness and irritation in my eyes. I blamed it on working on my computer for a long time, so I applied some eye drops and continued working. Unfortunately, the dryness and irritation persisted for days.
These lenses make my eyes feel extremely dry after a few hours of wear, like I'd been sleeping with them for a couple of hours. And not always does eye drops help to get rid of that feeling.
I've got to say, the dryness is a daily occurrence, even when I switch to a new lens. As a seasoned lens wearer, I'm pretty sensitive to these kinds of issues, and I can only imagine how tough it must be for beginners who are just starting out.
On top of the dryness, I've been experiencing constant eye strain, like my eyes are about to burst. I've been closing my eyes and massaging my eyelids to try and relieve the discomfort.
I've also noticed some cloudiness in the lenses from day one, with these white specks floating around in front of my eyes. And trust me, I'm meticulous about cleaning my lenses – there are no streaks or residue, but the specks still appear when I move my eyes.
It's pretty annoying, to be honest. I can feel the lens in my eye, and it's not a pleasant sensation.
On a positive note, the lenses are relatively easy to remove, and they don't irritate my eyes or the surface.
When I accidentally fell asleep with them in (yep, it was a weird night), my eyes were actually fine, which was surprising, given that I'd been experiencing dry eyes for a couple of hours. And when I woke up, I was good to go – no need to remove the lenses.
My vision hasn't been affected by these lenses, and I haven't experienced any photo sensitivity.
After a few weeks of wear, the lenses still looked brand new – no deformation, no cracks.
Pros and Cons. The pros include the affordable price for a large quantity of lenses, and the option to get them in fractional diopters.
The cons, unfortunately, are numerous:
-Eye pain after extended wear,
-Unbearable dryness after a few hours of use,
-Eye strain,
-Cloudiness in the lenses.
My Verdict.I wouldn't recommend these lenses to anyone, even considering the low price. If you really need them for a short period, go ahead, but don't plan on wearing them for an extended period – you'll be in for a world of trouble.
Thanks to everyone for reading, murmur.
