Bausch & Lomb PureVision 2 HD Contact Lenses

I've tried a bunch of contact lenses, but Bausch & Lomb PureVision 2 HD really deliver. They're super comfortable, and the high-definition vision is a total game-changer. Whether you're binge-watching your favorite show or working on your computer, everything's crystal clear - no blurry edges or distorted images. Plus, they're designed to last, so you don't have to worry about replacing them all the time. I've worn them for extended periods without any issues, and the quality is top-notch. The value for money is great, too - they're worth every penny. If you're in the market for a reliable and comfortable contact lens option, I'd definitely recommend giving these a try.

My Disappointing Experience with Bausch&Lomb PureVision 2 HD

summarizeEditor's Summary

I've been a huge fan of Bausch&Lomb's Softlens for over 15 years, but my experience with the PureVision 2 HD was a letdown. The lenses are comfortable at first, but after a week, they start to feel dry and uncomfortable. I've worn them for up to a month, but the constant discomfort makes me wonder if it's worth the hassle. To be honest, I'm not impressed with the packaging either - the box is small and doesn't provide much info. I've had to replace the lenses after three weeks, which means they don't last a full month. Considering the price, I'd say this product falls short in terms of value for money. I've used them regularly, and the shipping was slow, taking a while to arrive. I did contact customer support when I had an issue, but their response was slow. Overall, I'd recommend looking elsewhere for a better option.

I've been rocking contact lenses for over half my life – more than 15 years. Almost all of that time, I've been a huge fan of the one-day Softlens from Bausch&Lomb. By chance, I got my hands on lenses from the same brand, but with a one-month wear time – Bausch&Lomb PureVision 2 HD. So, today it's all about them.
Contact lenses Bausch&Lomb PureVision 2 HDGeneral info
Manufacturer: Bausch&Lomb
Country: USA
Material: silicone hydrogel
Wear schedule: daily, but you can wear them continuously for up to 7 days
Number of blister packs in the package: 6
Wear time: one month
Contact lenses Bausch&Lomb PureVision 2 HDPackage
The lenses come in a small box with minimal info – just the basics in different languages. I usually prefer to find this information online beforehand.
Contact lenses Bausch&Lomb PureVision 2 HD Inside, you'll find 6 blister packs with lenses. Assuming they're suitable for both eyes, this stash will last you 3 months (one pair per month).
The blister packs aren't connected, so you don't need to separate them.
Bausch&Lomb PureVision 2 HD Contact LensesWhat I Think of the Lenses
The lenses come with a standard curvature radius of 8.6, which is pretty standard as far as I'm concerned.
As for the power, you can choose from a range of -12 to +6, which is actually a bit more than what you'd normally get with standard lenses.
The packaging is surprisingly large, to be honest.
Bausch&Lomb PureVision 2 HD Contact LensesCompared to standard lenses - even from other brands - this one looks like it's going to be a lot bigger.
Bausch&Lomb PureVision 2 HD Contact LensesBut weirdly enough, the lens itself is actually standard size. I'm starting to think the packaging is a bit wasteful, though.
Bausch&Lomb PureVision 2 HD Contact LensesThe packaging itself is pretty minimal - all I really care about is the expiry date and the power range, which is basically the plus or minus value I need.
They open up pretty easily, although I do struggle with the foil sometimes, even with daily disposables.
Bausch&Lomb PureVision 2 HD Contact LensesThe clear lens is in a transparent, sterile solution. To be honest, I'm used to lenses with a bit of tint, so it takes some getting used to spotting the lens itself.
Bausch&Lomb PureVision 2 HD Contact LensesOne thing that really stood out to me about these lenses is their thickness - 0.07mm. I'm not entirely convinced, though:
They don't pop out as easily as I'm used to with other lenses. I'm not sure if it's because of their thickness, but that's my initial thought.I just can't shake the feeling that they're always there on my eyes. And when I look in the mirror, they don't exactly look thin to me either.
Bausch&Lomb PureVision 2 HD Contact LensesFrom what I can tell, they're pretty discreet (although you might need to take a closer look to notice them). People don't seem to notice them when they're on my eyes.
Bausch&Lomb PureVision 2 HD Contact LensesMy experience with wearing them and my honest opinion
I have to say, I'm really disappointed with these lenses. First of all, I can feel them on my eyes from the very first day I started wearing them. And by the end of the day, I need to use some drops to keep them moist - they start to dry out. For me, that's just weird - I'm used to having drops just lying around in my purse. Either I used to wear them overnight and then reapply drops in the morning, or I'd use them for a day and then take them out. But how can you wear these lenses without taking them out? It's uncomfortable enough for me to wear them at night, let alone for an entire day. So, I've never even tried sleeping in them, knowing they'd be a flop.
After about a week, the lenses become really uncomfortable. I use them regularly throughout the day, and by the end of the third week, I'm cursing them and wondering how I ever bought them. If I replace the lenses with a new pair, it seems comfortable at first. The discomfort really kicks in during use, though, and it repeats itself by the first evening.
The lenses can't even last the advertised 30 days. I replaced the first pair around the end of the fourth week, and the second one was gone just three weeks in (that's 21 days!). After the second pair, I wore my trusty one-day lenses for a day. It felt like I was in heaven. And I finally realized that the issue wasn't with me, but with the lenses (even though the brand is the same, and the specs are pretty similar).
I'm really careful about my eyes, and I think one-day lenses are the way to go - it's all about hygiene. You put them in, use them, and then toss them. No one touches them again, you don't accidentally damage them, and no dirt or debris accumulates on the surface. To be honest, I wouldn't even consider long-wear lenses if I had the choice.
Would I give them another chance?
No way. Three different pairs in three months is enough for me to conclude that I'm done experimenting.
Would I recommend them?
Seeing five-star reviews, I started wondering if the lenses just didn't suit me or if they're not that bad. But if you want my honest opinion, no, I wouldn't recommend them.
