Editor's Summary
Azur Air charter flight: a mixed bag with some decent service, but cramped seats and limited online check-in options.
Specifications
We just got back from a charter flight with Azur Air to Thailand, and I'm still trying to process the whole experience. It was a wild ride, to say the least.
First off, let me say that Azur Air is a bit of a mystery airline. We booked our flight as part of a package tour with Anex, and it wasn't until we landed that we realized the airline was actually a partner of the tour operator. Not a huge deal, but it's worth noting.
The real issue was online check-in. We tried to snag some decent seats, but they were all taken. I mean, all of them. We ended up with some crummy seats in the middle row, which was a blessing in disguise. Turns out, the seats by the window were available for free at check-in, but only if you were willing to sit next to some random stranger. Not exactly what I had in mind for my vacation.
The cabin itself was a cramped little nightmare. I mean, I've flown on some rough airlines before, but this was something special. The seats were tiny, and the people around us were getting into some serious arguments because their legs wouldn't fit in the space between the seats. I felt bad for the guy who had to measure himself at the check-in counter just to get a seat near the emergency exit.
But, you know, the flight attendants were super friendly and helpful. They even gave us some nice little pouches with earplugs, a sleep mask, and an inflatable pillow. It was a nice touch, even if it was just a bunch of gimmicks.
Food was, well, food. You know, the usual in-flight stuff. Salad, hot dish, bun, and some sweet treat. Nothing to write home about.
Overall, I'd give Azur Air 6/10 for the online check-in experience, 8/10 for the in-flight experience, and 7/10 for seat selection. Not bad, but not great either. Maybe I just got lucky with our flight, but I wouldn't recommend it to anyone looking for a comfortable ride.
