Hello everyone! I've flown with Azal Airlines five times, and I'm here to share my honest thoughts on their flights.
Introduction.
Last summer, my family and I chose Azal Airlines because they were affordable and had a decent service level, according to rumors. We ended up taking five flights, both day and night. When you're traveling with kids, you need to consider a lot of factors, and any issues can be really tough to deal with.
Flight Delays and Cancellations
One thing that really impressed me was how reliable Azal Airlines were. We had no issues with flight delays or cancellations, which was a huge relief, especially when traveling with kids.
Azal Azerbaijan Airlines Review
Flights from Moscow to Baku and back
These flights were a real highlight of our trip. The planes were huge and super comfortable, and the staff were always friendly and helpful. The food was also really tasty, and the bathrooms were clean and spacious. Plus, you could register online and choose your seat, which was a great feature. The flights took around 5 hours, but the comfort made the time fly by, even with little kids. We were really impressed!
Azal Azerbaijan Airlines Review The return flight from Baku to Moscow was a real treat. The bathroom on the plane was huge, and I even managed to squeeze in a quick workout while I was in there!
Azal Azerbaijan Airlines
The airport in Baku was also a pleasant surprise. It's not huge, but it's super clean and has plenty of seating. There are all the usual shops and cafes, and the staff are really friendly. Just a heads up, they don't accept euros, so make sure to use your credit card instead. Baku Airport The business class lounge was also a highlight. The food was four stars, but the selection of soft drinks and wine was amazing. And let's not forget the local fruits and sweets - they were a real treat!
The airport staff are a bit tired, but they're still super friendly and helpful. Just a heads up, there aren't any special perks for families with young kids, so you'll still need to queue up with everyone else.
I did have a bit of a scare when they didn't give me my boarding pass for my baby, but the staff sorted it out quickly at the gate.
Flights from Baku to Tivat (Montenegro) and Tivat to Baku.
These flights are on smaller planes, but they're really modern and clean. The legroom between seats is a bit tight, which can be a challenge when traveling with kids.
There's no online check-in for this route, and the seat allocation is pretty random. One time, they sat adults and kids separately, and the next time, they just scattered us all over the cabin. I had to ask other passengers to swap seats with us when our kids were getting overwhelmed. The flight attendants refused to help us out.
The staff we encountered on this airline were all Azerbaijani, and they were friendly and got the job done, but they weren't very empathetic or willing to go the extra mile to help us out. They could communicate in English, Azerbaijani, and a bit of Russian, but it was clear they weren't used to dealing with passengers who needed special assistance.
Food.
It was amazing! Everything was delicious and varied. I've included some photos.
Breakfast on AZAL Azerbaijan Airlines
On my last flight from Baku to Moscow, I was blown away by the in-flight treats - it was like a mini-vacation in the sky! The food was delicious, and the service was top-notch. I've never had such a great experience in economy class before! xa0
Verdict: Azal Airlines are doing a great job, especially on flights from Moscow to Baku. The aircraft are relatively new, and the food is tasty. The flight attendants are friendly, but I wish they'd show a bit more empathy towards passengers with young kids. For flights with only adults on board, they're a great option. They're definitely trying to match the level of Turkish Airlines, and they're almost there - but the service in Turkey is still way better.
Will I fly with them again? Absolutely, I recommend them!
Thanks for reading! Wishing you all the best flights and amazing travels!

I've flown with some low-cost carriers that have left me feeling surprised, but in a good way. If you know what to expect, it's all good.
I've heard great things about EasyJet, the famous English low-cost carrier, but is it really as amazing as Europeans make it out to be?
I've had some weird flights with Russia, to say the least. Our trip wasn't exactly a straightforward one...
