Editor's Summary
I was stoked to try out the avekids winter coat for my 1.5-year-old daughter, but unfortunately, it didn't quite cut it. The membrane quality was a major letdown - it started to flake off after just a few uses. My daughter was freezing after 40 minutes of playing outside in -20°C. To be honest, I expected better build quality, especially considering the price. All in all, I'd say this coat falls short in terms of value for money.

A Disappointing Winter Coat for My Little One
Winter's finally out, and I'm still thinking about the letdown my 1.5-year-old daughter had with her Belarusian-made winter coat from avekids. She wore it for the first time last winter, and I'm still not impressed.
I thought this coat would be a game-changer, given the manufacturer's claim that it's suitable for outdoor activities in temps ranging from +5 to -40 degrees Celsius. But in -20°C, my daughter was freezing after just 40 minutes of playing outside, even with a warm woolen sweater underneath. That's not what I expected from a coat that's supposed to keep her warm in freezing temps.
The membrane quality was another major letdown. It started to flake off, leaving behind a trail of silver specks everywhere. I hadn't even washed the coat once, so it's not like it was worn out or anything.
The zipper's a major issue, too. It's flimsy and started to come undone, making it hard to zip it up properly. We've had to tighten her scarf just to keep her neck warm.
The coat does look great, I'll give it that - the dusty rose color is gorgeous, and the faux fur is super fluffy and rich. But when it comes to its main job, it just didn't deliver. I'm really disappointed, especially since I bought it for her to wear for two winters. Guess I'll be looking for a new one for next winter.
I thought maybe it was just a one-time thing, but the more I wore it, the more I realized that it's just not a reliable coat. The material's thin, and it doesn't provide the warmth that I need for my daughter. I've had to layer it under other coats just to keep her warm, which defeats the purpose of buying a winter coat in the first place.
I've given it the benefit of the doubt, but unfortunately, it's just not a good product. The quality's subpar, and it doesn't live up to the manufacturer's claims. I wouldn't recommend this coat to anyone, especially not to parents who are looking for a reliable and warm winter coat for their kids.
I'm really disappointed with this coat, and I'd give it a low rating. I hope the manufacturer will take my feedback into consideration and improve their products in the future.
